Catching up with the American Pie gang 13 years after the original film has the distinct feel of watching the 13th season of a TV show - not without its nostalgic pleasures and occasional laughs (and Seann William Scott shows why he's had the most successful film career of the lot, landing as many gags as the rest of the cast combined), but god almighty is it stale. Also, the pod person that has replaced Tara Reid is incredibly creepy.

It has a couple of funny moments, and invokes some pleasant nostalgia but overall it's a bit bland. It doesn't help that some of the characters are ridiculously obnoxious. Eugene Levy elevates anything he is in, and this is the case here. The one thing about this series is that they never quite managed to nail the chemistry and dynamic that made the first entry so appealing; it just appears in flashes. There'll be enough here for fans of the original to enjoy.

Hits a roadblock an hour in from which I thought the film wouldn't recover, but picked itself up on the way to the finish line. Granted, this doesn't merit a spot on the high-brow side of cinema, but the writers went out of their way to appease fans' expectations with a fine combination of nostalgic delight, decent character development and fresh comedic situations. That's really the best compliment you can give to a 3rd American Pie sequel, is to know you had a good time.

'American Reunion' will only be entertaining for 'American Pie' fans. The memorable characters and nostalgia for the series won't translate well to audiences not in the know as most of the comedy hinges upon past fond memories. However, the film has a helping of occasional laughs and a few tender moments. It could have been more for sure, but the film isn't as lazy as it's been touted.

Garbage shit. Lots of scenes are implied and start on people laughing or reacting to something said or done so they don't even have to write something. Just feels empty. The gags are beyond terrible. And this is coming from someone who actually enjoyed the first 3 more or less.

A solid comedy with a good script which balances everything well. The scene where Jim has to smuggle a naked Kara into her home was funny. For the most part Seann William Scott steals the show.

Got a free ticket for a screening tonight. For someone who has seen some of the earlier film from this franchise, this is definitely did a good job on preserving the low-brow, questionable humour that was its trademark. Since it's been a long time since I last saw of those films I had a tough time on placing some of the minor characters, so it might be wise to brush up on the prior films a little before watching this.

This film was handed the seemingly impossible task of reviving a 13-year-old franchise, giving it the same flair in a new era. It succeeded with flying colors. The mix of nostalgia, reference to the old movies, and mixture of current and relevant topics to the group we all grew up with somehow all came together into a movie you couldn't help but leave satisfied after watching.

A predictable rehash of familiar ideas based around the same old cast of characters of the long-running franchise which now feels more like a TV series. The highlights are the few requisite gross-out or embarrassing nudity gags, in a script which has no real weaknesses but no strengths either. The story played out far too similar to the original film, and aside from the gags it felt stale and uninspired. Possibly the weakest entry in the series, I'd enjoy rewatching AP1 or AP2 more than this.

A film worth a watch if only for nostalgic value. Otherwise, a humorless and trite piece of shit. The entire time I sat there solemnly, only giving out a barely pushed out giggle at one of Stifler's immature antics. The rest of the cast are stale and one dimensional, and have lost any sort of identity they once had. Also, why does Tara Reid look like an outhouse at a construction site?

American Reunion was an inevitable return of a washed up franchise. Following the disastrous run or straight to DVD spin offs, none of which I gave the time of day, the franchise cheaply tries to cash in on one last piece of pie. The freshness of the original was short lived and the two main canon sequels that followed where average at best. But considering this franchise is barely a decade old, this so called reunion feels premature. But there's still fun and trademark shock moments to be had.

Not bad, but not that great either. It was a generic young adult comedy, except with characters from a franchise that died long ago. It's exactly what you'd expect, so you won't really be disappointed by it. Jason Biggs looks like he hasn't aged since the first one, and the rest of the gang don't look to old, so it didn't look that pathetic. Seann William Scott was probably the best part about it, and it's nice to see Eugene Levy have a bigger role. Also a cool cameo by John Cho.

Everytime there is a chance to go on an adventure with the East Great Falls gang, it is a rather fun adventure. This time around we are treated to a more mature film, that deals with adult complications. It still does it's best to remind us of the good times, which brings a certain nostalgia to the film. Seeing these characters on screen will always have that nostalgic film because these films will always be a reminder of the old days. A very good entry into the series.

They brought back everyone & it was great. Except for Tara Reid. I don't know what she is anymore... The film relies heavily on nostalgia, but for me, it totally worked. I actually really enjoyed it. I'm not saying it's a particularly good film, but I had a lot of fun watching it. Despite all the sex-based humour, I think these films have a lot more heart than people would give them credit for. I wouldn't recommend it to people who aren't fans of the franchise & characters, but I had a good time.

American Reunion is an excuse for actors who aren't particularly famous or popular to cash checks by reprising the one role that everyone knows them for. It doesn't require them to work hard or stretch as an actor, and they get to hang out with friends they made on sets like a decade ago. Fans of the franchise will probably like it, because seeing actors reprise old roles is somehow really fun. A couple of the cameos might even get applause. But it's not funny, dramatic, or insightful.

More of the same, largely predictable antics define this entry; some funny stuff here and there (the opening scene is arguably the high point) and damn it all if this cast hasn't worn down my defenses to the point where it's actually fun spending time with them, even through the contrived re-enactments of the series' comic highlights. Nice to see Levy given a chance to cut loose, but his scene seems to lack a proper "capper" pay-off.

It's not great, but it definitely doesn't suck. Eugene Levy as Jim's dad and Alyson Hannigan give the film some emotional heft, providing polar opposites, plot-wise, to Jim's other friends and keeping Jim nicely balanced in the middle as a pathetic hero. Babes from episodes past, including Tara Reid, Shannon Elizabeth, and Mena Suvari, add to the nostalgic feeling, and if this is the send-off for these characters, it seems to be the send-off they all deserve.

This movie was fine, I did love that they got the original cast back together. I loved the Neil Patrick Harris cameo. I also loved the plethora of beautiful women in this movie. The music was also really good, it brought back great memories. The sad part was that for a comedy, this movie really wasn't that funny. About the funniest thing was Stiffler getting revenge on Finch with Finch's mother. Other than that it was just a stroll down memory lane of when American Pie was actually funny.

Nostalgia accounts for a lot here. As movies go, it's pretty shambolic and only funny sporadically--mainly courtesy Jim's Dad and the Stiffmeister--but it's just sort of warm to see all the American Pie guys again. They've got a camaraderie that can't be faked--plus, that late '90's soundtrack! It's worth seeing once, not twice...but would it be too much to hope for a twenty-year reunion later on?

I got worried when the opening segment didn't elicit much more than a smirk, rather than the uproarious laughter I'm used to seeing from the franchise. Stifler saves the day with his intro (and virtually every scene he's in). And Eugene Levy controls every scene he's in both comedically and sentimentally. The movie definitely gets funnier as it goes along, and there's some stuff in there that's pretty emotional too - it has the same kinda of-age connection that Clerks II had with me. Excellent.

American Reunion is the best one to date. What little steps American Wedding takes, Reunion takes bigger. While absolutely still having moment of absurd raunchy energy, it just slowly builds into this more slightly serious tone. By no means does this dive into anything insightful or significant, but finally getting to that point where adult themes are present is nice...if a bit sad. At the end of the day, this is a solid finale in this franchise. My personal favorite of the bunch.

After what seems like millions of horrible American Pie sequels, I wasn't really expecting much from this. It pleases me to say I was very positively suprised. This movie relies heavily on nostalgia and rehashing of jokes from the original movies, but it works. Watching this movie really does feel like a stroll down memory lane and where the other sequels failed, this managed to keep some of the charm and wittiness of the original movies. This was like a time capsule back to the turn of the century in cheap, young adult comedy films - and I enjoyed it a surprising amount. It's hit and miss with more hits than I expected, it's biggest problem is a lack of solid framing, too corny character arcs and the use of extremely tired tropes. That said, I laughed a lot and it's overall a competent effort. I'm surprised to say this: I want more.

Being 17 at the release of American Pie, I'm 100% certain I'm the prime target audience for the writers of this fourth and final instalment, and can see some of myself in virtually every character here. None of the jokes reach the highs of the pie or 'pale ale' from the original, but there are plenty of laughs throughout and the humour remains in that goldilocks zone of pushing the boat without being gratuitous. An enjoyable and nostalgic trip for those of us now into our thirties.
