I could watch Popoff punch old people all day.[ Louis, Martin & Michael (2003)
What You Said: "Shit in Uri Geller's stupid mouth"]
This reminds me of the time there was a McDonald's commercial where "a bunch of guys named Ronald McDonald from around the USA" were interviewed and all promoted McDonald's. I said it was bullshit, but my dad went and looked on the McDonald's website where all these guys were verified as legit. There is no way McDonald's wasted the money to send camera crews to Bumblefuck, New Hampshire or to fly Ronald McAsshole #6 to where their sound stage was.Don't worry Randi, I'm fighting the good fight.
There's not a lot of magic trickery to making an engaging documentary about James Randi, as he is impossible not to love. Watching this earthly wizard debunk one "psychic" con artist after the other is almost akin to the excitement of watching a Gandalf slaying trolls and dragons. I only wished they'd show some more of his victories.
The filmmakers manage to turn an otherwise standard bio-pic into something that is entertaining and gripping, and in doing so, they make "The Amazing" Randi's story a lot more interesting than history will probably show. This is done by spotlighting the overall concept of ethics in the world we live in, and in that regard it leaves you with something to take away with you.
Most fascinating is the segment with the scientists getting willfully deceived by magicians, even after Randi supplies said scientists with a very detailed anti-magician protocol.
