An Unfinished Life

Danny Glover did a great job in this one.

Easy but thinkful movie of life, loosing and hanging on past. Redford is good as always, but so is the little girl, Becca Gardner. The bear is the guilt and Morgan Freeman the conscience. Jennifer was just a supporting actress here.

A surprisingly good relationship picture. Redford is damn fine playing an old man (finally), and that little girl is a much better actress than kids usually are

What a shame that this film was overlooked at Oscar time. If you like these actors, and just a great, human story, catch up with this one. Beautiful cinematography, too.

The most well cast made for TV movie I have ever seen. It's not bad, it's just, maudlin and pandering that it comes off as disingenuous at times.

Einar (Robert Redford) is an old embittered farmer who has let himself & his ranch deteriorate after death of his son 10years ago All Einar spends time & energy on is his best friend Mitch (Morgan Freeman) who became disabled after encounter with bear One day Jean (Jennifer Lopez) Einars daughter-in-law shows up on his doorstep.The relationship between two is severely disrupted as Einar blames Jean for the death of his son. She has her daughter Griff with her who has never seen her grandfather.

Average movie. Plot was promising but it is not very well processed. The focus on the death of son of RR was a bit exaggerated and the conversion of hate to forgiveness was oversimplified.

I think I fell in love with the majestic scenery.. Liked the solid, yet simple story and the performances of nearly all the actors. Simple but good.

Great acting with an interesting story, a film worth watching.

Lasse Hallstrom has not had a good film since Gilbert Grapes and that film came out more than 13 years ago. This is some oscar bait that fails to live up to it's hype.

Great film.

I feared this would be a maudlin, slow, "old-folks" movie but it wasn't. It was a humanitarian film that didn't resort to any cliches at all. I kept expecting things to happen (that only happen in films) but what happened was what would probably happen in real life and I can't express how refreshing that was. If you want to escape from the same-ol' same-ol' Hollywood fare, this is the film for you.

A chick flick for guys. Great performances.
