An item appears in the Iranian press about a village boy who averts a train catastrophe by warning the authorities that the track was damaged by setting fire to his coat. A film crew is sent to make an epic film based about this incident. But whilst the railway authorities completely deny the boy's existence, the Govenor-General recognises him as a hero. In the meantime, dozens of heroes come forward, each claiming to have saved the day. (freiburger film forum)

Rashomon, documentary style. Great not only in showing how quickly skewed perspectives can arise from an event, but also in showing the attitudes and reasoning of the various people. The editing really helps pull everything together into a delightful little film.

It's all a pack of lies. A fantastic piece of cinematic journalism that manages to present a vast array of facts and statements and attitudes behind the contradictory narratives about one specific incident. Also manages to create interesting and often highly satirical context to the issue with great cinematography and editing. Apparently you cannot review this creative short documentary without mentioning Rashomon so: It's Rashomon.
