Ana and the Others

There's something about the central character that didn't really click with me, but I still enjoyed the film's wandering realism.

Ana and the Others is a character study that gives us the opportunity to really observe another human being as she moves through the now-strange and distant land of her memories. Murga's film focuses on placing Ana within the public and private spaces of her hometown. A series of images edited together about halfway through reveals Ana's reason for being in town, and brings a sense of poignancy to the proceedings. Her journey for roots and something settled will ultimately carry her elsewhere.
