Beautiful. Overly long. Pointless.

Worst Ozon film.

The problem is neither the language nor Ozon... He definitely adds some extraordinary & unusual choices and he's naughty as usual but it's too long for the material. After a while the parody becomes real and you can't admire the best part of the film; its ending.

I thought Ozon was going somewhere with the deluded, sociopathic, borderline autistic main character, like it would be revealed her father was an alien or something, but nope, she was just crazy. Which was pretty fascinating in the first half when it seemed like something was being kept from the audience, but the second half is just standard boring period melodrama. Still, it's worth watching for Garai's delirious central performance.
