This is a franchise that was created with staleness embedded into its very fabric. Yet, the target audience is one that is perfectly happy with a cookie cutter action movie. The third installment sees a minor change in the formula, but honestly, it didn't really need Banning to be framed, it didn't actually need any freshness, just lots of bullets and splosions and I'm sure people would be satisfied. But to it's credit, Nolte plays a hell of a crazy old codger.

Essentially a FUGITIVE call-back, this enjoyably schlocky action flick will hold no surprises for series devotees; it never really builds the balls-to-the-wall momentum of the earlier chapters and, as with LONDON, the claustrophobic confines of the White House in Part 1 are missed. Chief pleasures here stem from surprise comic relief Nolte, though his impassioned "sins of the father" monologues feel a little out of place in such a light weight affair. Plenty of bang for your buck nonetheless.

Maybe I was in a charitable mood but I actually thought this was the best of the trilogy. Between the government conspiracies and president under attack and agents being framed and shady defense contractors and fugitive elements and last stands in barracked rooms it felt a lot like that 24 movie they always talked about that we never got. But I do have to dock it points for extreme, laughable predictably on every plot twist and villain reveal; real Babby’s First Thriller Screenplay stuff.

It's a step up from London, that's not saying much, but it definitely embraces the cheesier aspects of films like this, but this stills feels much like another rehash. While the action sequences are fun to watch, I don't ever get this balls to wall, and self aware schlick that I think these movies really need. At some point, it would be nice to see Butler switch up and do something a bit different, I was hoping this was gonna give me the that. Hopefully this is the last one of these.

Standard president and his bodyguard against internal assassins thriller, copy/pasted and "2019" written on it. Bizarre, geographically dull "Heat" machine gun shootout at the end. Lacks the feverish id that was unleashed when London fell.

Almost commendably by-the-numbers in every single aspect, to the point where I found myself legitimately surprised that it wasn't leadling to some form of (obvious) bait-and-switch in several places. No, It was simply content with being mediocre through and through, and somehow that made it the best installment in the series (which is faint praise, I know)

Nolte was the highlight! Watch it, be entertained on an easy note - it's really not that bad. *Recommendable

Skipped the second, and I doubt I missed much. I don’t know why this trilogy made it past one film, but I suppose this gets the job done if you’re open to even the most generic action films. The problem is that it takes itself far too seriously for what isn’t a very good script, making for more eye rolling, dull moments and mediocre dialogue instead of dumb fun like The F&F franchise. Also I could’ve sworn Michael Bay directed the first action scene, holy explosions. Edit: saw the second

Good old fashioned no nonsense action movie. Gerard Butler is great.

The Fugitive but with gun battles. I thought this was going to take place in Los Angeles, not boring northeastern rural areas. More grounded than the earlier movies, but also less fun, probably due to a much lower budget. There are some good character moments, and occasional tension. The helicopters needed miniguns, bullets should penetrate cover more often, main villain should have a big rousing speech about their noble goals and warped plan to implement it.
