Animal Crackers

I watched this for the Bear McCreary score. I always enjoy seeing these hit-point heavy cartoon scores in action, although this one is so undermixed that maybe I shouldn't have bothered. Anyway, I feel like I have to explain all that because, unfortunately, there's really no reason anyone older than ten should be sitting through this.

I didn't click with the character designs or set pieces. The story was also not well streamlined. Focusing huge chunks of runtime to secondary characters. Overall, the gimmick of the movie happens quite late and it feels it's already over by the point anything interesting happens.

Gilbert Gottfried's character amused me and was the one little ray of sunshine in this shitstorm.

Not the great Marx Brothers comedy from 1930, but a average modern animation film from Blue Dream Studios. At least better than its reputation, I felt. Originality, it's not going to change the way animation films are laid-out these days, but the animal stuff was sweet and fun. Definitely a good one for the entire family.
