Betty Hutton is wonderful, particularly in the first third of the film, before Annie joins Buffalo Bill. Her version of "You Can't Get a Man With a Gun" is both funny and very moving. Hutton had such frightening energy, such a desperate need to be loved, that it reaches right out of the screen and grabs you. Keel lacks charm, the direction lacks energy, but--for me--Hutton is enough. (If you're not easily offended by Native-American stereotypes, Naish's Sitting Bull is pretty funny too.)

Betty Hutton's energy and 'ethel' factor is undisputed. She carries a B tier story but ultimately, this doesn't work for me. Forget that it was dated when it was made, the energy of a truly undervalued performer doesn't carry the film. To quote Noel Coward - 'not denying the fact, she's desperate to act, it isn't quite enough.' Such a shame Hutton never had a better vehicle.

Betty Hutton's unearthly energy carries this film. Shameless racism aside, there are some fun songs and a decent attempt at spectacle, though the film would ultimately be a chore to sit through without Hutton.

Betty Hutton's over-the-top personality and talents are perfectly suited to this big, bombastic musical -- one of Hollywood's best.

I forget why I decided to borrow and watch this one. Reading about it, it sounded good even though the story doesn't sound interesting. It's a Hollywood Technicolor period musical and pretty over the top; I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

What can you say about a movie that's moral is "All you have to do to be happy is let your man win"? Annie Get Your Gun, viewed as a classic film from the 50's, tells me a lot about how society regarded strong women at the time.

Noting that I am biased by childhood nostalgia, this is a wholly 50s story filled with catchy and iconic musical numbers. Did I enjoy rewatching it? Sure. But boy was it a refresher in how much things have changed in terms of social progress.

Mostly abysmal due to its unsightly overacting, slight sexism and overt racism. Between two decent musical numbers, the only thing occupying my mind while watching this was Howard Keel's teeth, which is equaled in you-can't-look-away creepy only by Sarah Jessica Parker and the third nipple in Total Recall. I clearly had a lot of time to think about it.

DVDRip no PirateBay.

As cartoon-y as the life of Annie Oakley gets! Adorable Betty Hutton make sure of that. A ton of fun, but it never lets go of the exaggerated show aspects, so in the end it becomes too much. However, there's no denying that this is a pure smile affair.
