After eight drab years of work in a small-scale factory, the thirty-something Dimitris finds himself without a job, and penniless. Rudderless, apathetic, and utterly unmotivated, Dimitris meanders through the faceless, rain-soaked Athenian streets like a stranger in his own land, bombarded by vivid bitter memories of a dangerous, poverty-stricken childhood during the Nazi Occupation of Greece.
