A pretty good Second World War drama. Well worth a look.

Being Czech with a deep interest in the WWII history and especially this particular event I could see some inaccuracies in this movie. But that aside this is a solid movie which shows a clear respect to events it is based on.

A suspenseful tale of WWII valor from Czechoslovakia, and a piece of history unknown to me, so interesting.

Of all the World War II movies about the plots to kill the architects of the Third Reich, Anthropoid is guilty of being the dullest. And there's really no excuse for it.

The first half dragged a bit from the love stories that did not go very far, but still a very gripping story. I liked that it went slow, as it is in real life with all the threats and then hit a high mark. But it did romanticise the war a bit too much for its own good. A decent WWII film.

You have to be WWII buff to get something out of this 'brave resistance fighters killing a nazi big-shot' movie. I personally like my war movies with a little zing to them, so I felt vaguely bored watching this.

Takes too long to get to the point because of the sub character plots. But what I really find annoying is it does exactly the opposite of what it explicitly preaches: romanticize war, both through character interactions and portrayal of its heroes. Such a hypocrite of a movie.

Intense. Takes some liberties with the reality of things, but its historical accuracy is acceptable regardless. Good movie.

Very off-putting jerkey-cam (is it making a comeback, Jason Bourne, now this), The story was good enough except for the interminable battle at the end where SS troops, not known for battle prowess, are fictitiously shown continually throwing themselves at the resistance fighters.

A rather slow start is redeemed by a strong a exciting second half. Great performances all around. *Good

Disgusting film. Basically an action movie made on the back of history.

A piece of history that I was not aware of before seeing this film. Fairly dark theme, as you might expect.

Above average WWII movie. A bit forgettable but admirably made with what appears to be a genuine attempt to be as historically accurate as possible. The slow pace didn't bother me. Makes a good companion piece to Sophie Scholls.

The second half, beginning with the assassination attempt, is excellent - brutal, tragic, tense - and largely faithful to the historical record. What a shame that the drama and tension here is precisely because this is a true story, and not because of any outstanding filmcraft. Sadly the first half did little to establish the characters, heavily focusing on Gabcik & Kubis though we learn little about them; Murphy does a lot better with his meagre offerings than dull Dornan.

1437: not bad, great brave men story! all sacrified

Narratively this wasn't a homerun for me, but it was nonetheless a sound movie about the assassination of Nazi's own Reinhard Heydrich. Takes a while before it gets going because a lot of unnecessary diversions, but once it's time for killing it's thrilling.
