An adorable film about a happy couple that stumbles across a winning ticket, causing a bit of a roller coaster ride for a day. Loved the way it manipulated the situations. Feels like a rather simple picture, but there is in reality a lot going on, both with the story and most of all in how it's visually told. It's actually quite genius at times. So credit to Jacques Becker, who had yet to direct anything this competent before Antoine et Antoinette [Antoine and Antoinette] (1947).
