Antoinette dans les Cévennes

Antoinette dans les Cévennes is a film that lacks bite. The film has an amusing premise and indulges a few RomCom tropes, but despite an initial comedic start drifts into a rather banal journey of self-discovery. The acting is decent enough, but the pacing makes the film feel much to long as it segues from one conversation to the next. The film has a western meets road-trip vibe, but with less exciting content.

Top badass moment? The best French comedy I’ve ever seen - although that’s a bit like saying I've just climbed the highest mountain in Norfolk. (FYI: Beacon Hill, 103m.) I was hugely impressed how quickly Antoinette overcame a really badly sprained ankle - one night, sorted. I did the same thing to my ankle on the South Downs Way, so I’m pretty sure it takes a lot more than a few hours to sort itself out; then again, I didn't have a stroppy donkey with me. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.
