Do you want a poorly animated CG movie with a tired story bolstered only by an array of big name actor's voices? Because that's how you get Antz.

A tonally confused movie with clunky writing and ugly animation. The filmmakers were obviously trying so hard to *not* be Disney that they forgot to figure out what they were instead.

Like A Bug's life... only without any heart and soul.

Oh wow, they used a 'z' instead of an 's'. They are so rebellious and edgy and cool. It's obvious they called the main character Z just so they could do this and whoever came up with that idea is a cunt.

Replacing an 's' with a 'z' does not a title make. In a word, 'Gazh', 'Zhit', 'Rubbizh'....

Watch this in 2019. It's wild. Some of the screenplay is mesmerizing. Bit bizarre but I laughed. Did watch back to back with Naked Lunch so take of that what you will.

I preferred it's Pixar rival, in both story and animation. I wonder who thought "You know who kids would really respond to? Woody Allen!".

I found it to be a poor man's A Bug's Life. The animation is nowhere near up to Pixar par to the point where I'd dare go as far as to say it's "mediocre." While you'd think it's a kids movie it's far more of a Woody Allen film that's toned down just enough to make it for young adults. Personally I found the most entertaining character was, and I never thought I'd say this, Sylvester Stallone. This film isn't bad but just feels really mediocre.

The other bug movie of the year (a bugs life) is far and away a better movie. This one is much more poorly acted and less interesting.

I seem to have reviewed it more warmly than most, but I remember actually finding it pretty entertaining, and even better than the similar A Bug's Life by Pixar. For an early CGI film it didn't look half bad, and something about Woody Allen and Sly Stallone acting together is just bizarre enough to work.

Mildly entertaining, but no match for the same year release of A Bugs Life.

Mediocre kids' movie made to seem especially pale because _A Bug's Life_ came out at about the same time

Nice animation and voice acting, with plenty of humor and action. It's a little darker than many animated movies, with some downright sad parts.

Antz is one of the biggest scandals and frauds ever to come out in the 90s. As evidence, it was made at the exact same time as Pixar's immensely inferior animated blockbuster A Bug's Life. On its own without the initial release of that previous film overshadowing it's core it still fails miserably. The visuals itself are cruddy and amateurishly done while it tries to recover but falls back down with abominable, contemptible voice acting. Woody Allen is the only redeeming quality. Shameful.

One of the most underrated animated movies. The best aspects of Antz are the splendid voice actors and the thoughtful plot.

Wait, did this steal from 'A Bugs life' or was it the other way around? Anyhow, it's the usual 'weirdo saves the collective by following his heart' blabber trying to set itself apart by a stellar cast of voice talent. And say what you will about the success of that approach, but it is still by far the best Woody Allen movie out there.

Worker ants are female. Were the film makers so sexist they went with having male protagonists? For shame.
