Do you want a poorly animated CG movie with a tired story bolstered only by an array of big name actor's voices? Because that's how you get Antz.

A tonally confused movie with clunky writing and ugly animation. The filmmakers were obviously trying so hard to *not* be Disney that they forgot to figure out what they were instead.

Oh wow, they used a 'z' instead of an 's'. They are so rebellious and edgy and cool. It's obvious they called the main character Z just so they could do this and whoever came up with that idea is a cunt.

I seem to have reviewed it more warmly than most, but I remember actually finding it pretty entertaining, and even better than the similar A Bug's Life by Pixar. For an early CGI film it didn't look half bad, and something about Woody Allen and Sly Stallone acting together is just bizarre enough to work.

I found it to be a poor man's A Bug's Life. The animation is nowhere near up to Pixar par to the point where I'd dare go as far as to say it's "mediocre." While you'd think it's a kids movie it's far more of a Woody Allen film that's toned down just enough to make it for young adults. Personally I found the most entertaining character was, and I never thought I'd say this, Sylvester Stallone. This film isn't bad but just feels really mediocre.

Wait, did this steal from 'A Bugs life' or was it the other way around? Anyhow, it's the usual 'weirdo saves the collective by following his heart' blabber trying to set itself apart by a stellar cast of voice talent. And say what you will about the success of that approach, but it is still by far the best Woody Allen movie out there.

Antz is one of the biggest scandals and frauds ever to come out in the 90s. As evidence, it was made at the exact same time as Pixar's immensely inferior animated blockbuster A Bug's Life. On its own without the initial release of that previous film overshadowing it's core it still fails miserably. The visuals itself are cruddy and amateurishly done while it tries to recover but falls back down with abominable, contemptible voice acting. Woody Allen is the only redeeming quality. Shameful.

Not the worst animated feature about insects to be released in '98. What I like about Antz is how it blends a standard collectivism narrative from a new perspective. Children won't notice the obvious metaphors but the adults will, which is good because the animation is obviously cheap. Antz is ultimately neither brilliant nor as emotional as a common PIxar film, but I do give it a lot of credit for having more to say than most animated films.

I knew it was more of a grown-up movie when I first watched it as a kid, but watching it again as an adult, one realizes it is surprisingly mature and grim. Not the nicest character design, and the CGI is not the best of the late '90s, but it still holds alright. Maybe not the most interesting for kids nowadays however, which could be a problem target audience-wise.

I like to take shots at DreamWorks Animation every chance I get for their sub-par product and their shameless Pixar rip-offs. So I really wanted to hate this, as it seems like it was greenlit solely to combat A Bug's Life. And while that may indeed be true, and the animation quality here is weak, the movie still entertains. It's more adult-oriented than its Pixar equivalent, and basically works as a CGI Woody Allen film. Its stacked cast of voice-actors is what really gets it through.

The second fully computer-animated feature, and a significant advance. The illusion of three-dimensionality, with finely sculpted and shaded bodies in cavernous and engulfing space, is quite remarkable. And the nuanced facial expressions, to say nothing of the perfect synchronization of mouth movement and spoken word, suggest an evolutionary leap that would leave the original King Kong in the same paleolithic class as Howdy Doody, Lamb Chop, and Miss Piggy.

I actually like this a bit better than A Bug's Life. The characters are more interesting and the jokes are more adult, yet still appropriate for kids aside from some mild swearing here and there. Though the story is still a little cliche and the animation doesn't hold up as well, but it makes up for that by the wise decision of giving each ant a unique design unlike with A Bug's Life.

Antz told an acceptable story. This debut from Dreamworks tried to use the Pixar formula but just ended up fumbling. Unlike Pixar movies that aim for all audiences to enjoy their movies, this movie seemed to be more geared towards adults. The actors they got to play the parts, the story, and even the style of the animation was aimed at more of an adult audience than a kids audience so the movie felt more dreary than Pixar titles. It isn't a terrible debut but it's not something I'd watch again.

Only the second film ever created entirely through computer animation ("Toy Story" being the first), pic is visually amazing. The fact that the ant characters do not resemble their performers' appearances makes the relationship between Z and the princess plausible, and actually adds depth to the characters' personalities. An interesting, rather elaborate storyline, along with excellent voice performances (even Stallone!) make this one fun for all ages.

Filmlerde izlediğimiz klişeleri tek tek kullanan film, çocuklara hitap etmekten çok büyüklere göndermeler yapılmış. Fakat bu göndermeler, animasyonu sığ bir hale çevirmiş.
