George and Helen Pasashvily's colorful memoir Anything Can Happen was delightfully brought to the screen by the Paramount producing team of William Perlberg and George Seaton. Jose Ferrer heads the cast as Eastern European immigrant Giorgi Pasashvily, whose wide-eyed innocence and uncertain grasp of the English language causes him no end of trouble during his first months in America. Things take an upward turn when Giorgi falls in love with American girl Helen Watson (Kim Hunter). (allmovie.com)

A positive immigrant story. While it's a enjoyable picture, it becomes more a sitcom-style comedy than anything deeper. One would have expected something more ambitious for José Ferrer's first film after he had won the Oscar for his title role in Cyrano de Bergerac (1950), but this is what we got. He's likable, so is Kim Hunter, and a few of the other characters, but it's pretty caricature about everything.
