No interviews. No narration. No flashforwards. No infodumps. No dramatizations. Just incredible footage backed by the voices of the people actually doing it as we see it unfold, flying to the moon in a bucket of bolts.

Proving simplicity can be an asset when dealing with such awe inspiring material: brilliantly crafted and structured archival documentary eschews any talking heads or narrative fluff and instead lets its stunning footage do the talking. Armstrong's infamous "small step" is still a goosebumps moment, and in its "first act" the film does an effective job of capturing the sights and sounds of the community of spectators on Earth. Deeply and profoundly moving.

One of the most gripping docs I've ever seen. You really get a sense of what the mission was like and a truer appreciation for everything that went into it. Another fantastic entry into the archival-footage-only type of documentary.

The amount of raw footage NASA kept on a shelf from this historic mission is dizzying, but it is also very impressive that Miller and his team were able to piece it together to retell the story with such clarity. The photography is often breathtaking.

(IMAX version) Pulse pounding documentary which assembles incredible footage through a rousing score and clean-cut editing. Your heart rate will skyrocket, to say the least.

You know, for a movie made in 2019, you'd think they could get better CGI effects. Whole thing looks like it was filmed in some sound studio with inadequate lighting.

Lots of video footage of nothing happening. It's cool to see young Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin in high def, but after about 45 minutes, I was feeling a little like "goodnight, moon", if ya know what I mean.

Made almost completely of beautifully restored archive footage, this sometimes feels more like a report than a film. But it's all here: the tension, the countdowns, the dialogues that made history. A testament of how humanity is as proud of its doings as it is of framing, registering, encapsulating them.

Stunning, and supremely edited. Great companion to the (very different) First Man.

Breathtaking and stunning for every frame of its runtime, Apollo 11 preserves in marvelous fashion one of the most monumental human accomplishments, yet somehow still manages to be interesting, compelling, and gripping. The editing made me wonder many times if this footage was purposefully shot for this film; it is that seamless and that well made. An easy contender for Best Documentary Feature and probably the best doc I've seen to date.

What an adventure.. Even though I knew almost every single detail, I was still gripped. The never before scene angles and shots where just great to see, and to see it from the eyes of the public, the excitement all around the Apollo program at the time.. Such a shame how it fell out of public concious after a very short time.. Great documentary with just archival footage.

An excellent documentary. I really appreciate the decision to present events as they happened without commentary - it works well to communicate how monumental the Apollo 11 mission was and how, in many ways, it really was a shot in the dark (albeit one planned by some of the world's best minds). I do think it struggled finding appropriate footage for some stages of the mission, but otherwise it was fantastic.

Never before have I so wanted an English film to played with subtitles in the cinema. The lo-fi radio chatter is already hard enough to understand without the booming electronic score playing behind it, and it definitely detracted from my experience. Like, the moon landing itself, the film is exciting, educating, inspiring, and probably more nationalistic than it needed to be.

A stunning, monumental achievement in film editing that succeeds in recapturing the past by showing us a glimpse of exhilarating never-before-seen footage from the events of the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landings.

As everyone says, it is surprising to see new and very clear footage of events surrounding the first Apollo mission. Slightly oddly, the sequences covering the build-up to the launch seem more exciting and almost more impressive than the trip to the moon itself. Very similar to Miller's earlier film, THE LAST STEPS, but longer and slicker.

Great footage, and it does an awesome job of representing the psyche around the Apollo Project. However I've felt like sound mixing was not the strong suit of this picture, and that detracted a lot from my viewing experience at certain points. I'd still recommend it though.

Breathtaking documentary that doesn't really file like a documentary at all. It doesn't feel as a film either, but rather an experience. The moment the screen faded to black and the cinema lights turned up after the film was done felt surreal to me. Like all audience members and I had gone through this crazy science fiction experience that actually happened 50 years ago. Masterfully edited, beautiful visuals and great use of score and audio. Highly recommended to see this on the big screen.

"This has been far more than three men on a voyage to the moon... We feel that this stands as a symbol of the insatiable curiosity of all mankind to explore the unknown." -Buzz Aldrin Hell yeah, man. I had no idea there was so much archival footage of this mission out there. A fantastic compilation that tells the full story of this historic event.

Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin ve Michael Collins'in uzaya çıkıp, Ruslardan önce aya gitmelerini anlatıyor. Aya Ayamo. Fire Fire Fire. Fire ayamo.

As a technical achievement, I really admired this film. It's really beautiful looking. I think I'm pretty clearly outside the intended audience because I don't find myself awed by the majesty of this footage. Every time the film included a small animation to explain the logistics of what was about to happen, I wanted to hear a lot moree. When we briefly referred to Michael Collins and his really fascinating role, I wanted to know a lot more about him.

Nice, simple, real. When the facts are huge, dramatization distracts. The director got it and kept it to a bare minimum.

It's a great documentary if you're not a "space travel junkie" and you don't know a lot about the space race. If you are (like me) this documentary has nothing new to show me and so... it's getting boring after 30 minutes.

99% of it is just archival footage (with a few short rudimentary graphics thrown in to explain the various stages of the voyage). Honestly I found it didn't fully keep my attention. I would have preferred some explanatory narration. I like documentaries to learn interesting facts. But I don't think you can really come out of this 90-minute doc with any interesting facts at all. All I can think of is that the Apollo 11 was made up of the Eagle that landed and the Columbia that orbited. That's it.

Impressive editing, employing an art form that not nearly enough documentarians use (when possible, of course). Fantastic use of music, too.

A bit like an art installation that would run in a NASA museum, propped up in dramatic moments by properly suspenseful space mission music that indicates to viewers that they're watching a cinematic narrative after all. So what if I found it slightly boring and mechanical - it was a film bound to exist at some point and the footage is beautiful and well-structured.
