With all respects, PPP, but if you think you can’t cast Elektra cause African women seem to you to know nothing about hardness, pride and hatred, you have no idea what you’re talking about and really only looking skin deep. Best moments therefore are the discussions with African students who point out the faults in his (romantic) prejudices and assumption. Rest of it is mostly pseudo-intellectual pondering by Pier himself,that failed to keep my engaged. It does have beautiful shot footages.

I found this film very entertaining and educative about the creative process of a master and about his personality. The film has good edition and nice footage. I keep coming back in thinking how it would've been the movie Pasolini was planning.

Notas Para Uma Oréstia Africana estreava há 50 anos em Cannes. Às vezes os filmes que não estavam lá deveriam não estar lá mesmo, claro que seria maravilhoso um filme sobre a Oresteia transposto para algum país africano em meio às revoluções anti-coloniais dos anos 60, mas certamente eu preferiria que não fosse um italiano a fazer isso, pois isso soaria tão colonizador como qualquer outra coisa vinda da Europa.
