Arabian Adventure

I liked the production style - although it is probably the last of the glaring colours features film of this style. And you can already see the more realistic contemporary style coming in. My favourite genie and flying carpets pre-CGI.

Do you like The Thief of Bagdad (1924 and 1940)? The Sinbad movies? Aleksandr Ptushko and Aleksandr Rou? The live-action fantasy flicks from Disney's golden age? This is for you. Don't listen to these other reviewers. If you like these movies, you will enjoy it. Yes, the plot feels disjointed, characters are paper-thin, but who cares? My main complaint would be the young actor who plays the protagonist, a Sabu-Esque, Aladdin-type of kid. He's really amateurish, although not without charm.

It's good fun - I missed the Harry Hausen effects, which are usually the reason this type of film gets a showing on tv, but it had enough charm of its own to still be a fun watch on a slow Sunday.
