A good story in it's way, but it lacked something for me to fully enjoy. Might be because I've never been a William Haines fan. But you get sympathy for him with Karen Morley being a nagging wife by contract and not by love anymore as Haines have moved on and she keeps holding on for money. While the story is grim the movie never takes advantage of the bad to full-heartedly effect and the movie comes across as just another MGM entertainment filler and not something deep.
