Good, but not as good as Kusturica's best. It's interesting how he puts in so many archetypal references to America -- classic American movies and movie stars, the American Dream, and more -- as if to justify the movie being set in America. I think the cast do a nice job, but I never got as involved with the characters as I have in other Kusturica films. Their personalities seemed to fluctuate a lot, though that may have been intentional.

Think anybody fucking touches Johnny Depp's face? The ideal oneiric place will always have Arizona Dream playing in the background.

I was way into the dream logic, and was super glad Emir retained his voice into an English-language film, as so few directors manage to do. But he stayed with Dunaway and Taylor long, long after I'd lost interest in their characters and Depp's relationships with them. I was into the chaos, and the counterintuitive transitions between settings, and then it stopped, and got serious, and it really started to drag, and I mostly didn't care anymore. First half is fantastic though.

between this and Underground, I think I just really hate this dude. has all his signatures, stupid goofiness, farty eastern european polka music, and feels like it's 8 hours long. I also can't stand Lili Taylor, her face looks like she's having an allergic reaction.

Calling this film a dream just about sums it up. Beautiful, even though I'm not really sure what it is about.

An extremely hard film to find but it is incredible. Has one of my favorite casts, Depp and Gallo is a great combination. This was my introduction to Kusturica and now I'm pumped to see what else this guy can do. =D

This was 142 minutes of sheer torture. The movie is pointless. It is just a slice of the psychotic lives of few folks. The characters are impossible to associate with and the dream thing is just nauseating. One of my most lop-sided experiences when it comes to the general score and mine. And don't even get me started with folks who do Director worshipping. Kusturica has gone in my 'Beware Of' list!

Surreal, abstract but undeniably charming, "Arizona Dream" is a bold, experimental film that challenges with its unique visuals and score, as well as delights with the sheer power of its unconventionality.

What an ambitious movie. Every scene is interesting (and most are surprising), with plenty of hilarious elements along the way. The cast is great fun, the camerawork outstanding, and the main song a real smasher. One to see on the big screen!

A bit muddled and rambling, but it's otherwise a fun time with some great characters. Taylor's the most interesting, although Kusturica gets great performances out of all actors involved.

Utterly bizarre and a bit too long (how exhausting must the 4-hour director's cut Depp mentioned in an interview be), but, as is the custom with Kusturica, for the most part distinctly charming, funny and very well-acted. Rooster-scene is amazing.

Gabriel García Márquez in büyülü gerçekçi anlatımının filmde yüz bulmuş hali.

Breathtaking photography, innovative direction, a daring, brave cast, a marvellous soundtrack by Goran Bregovic (standout tracks include "Get the Money", "In the Deathcar" and "TV Screen" sung uniquely by Iggy Pop) and a complex, brilliant script set in Arizona during the decay of the American Dream. The first part especially is absolutely excellent and profoundly experimental and, despite some inconsistencies in the second part, the film remains deep and cerebrally and emotionally challenging.

Now this felt like an actual dream. Not that slow, rhythmic, "hypnotic" stuff that most movies attempt to pass off as "dreamlike." Choppy and surreal. Like an alternate reality in which God keeps throwing little nonsensical shit into for fun. If there was a point to the narrative, I didn't grasp it but that's just another reason for a re-watch. Pretty exhilarating. American cut sucks. Must see Euro version.

Just about what you'd expect an American Kusturica production to be. It could have used more comedy. Would be better with Kusturica's regular cast rather than big Hollywood stars.

You can either love or hate this movie. It did not convince me with narrative, cinematography or music. Even though it was surrealistic and crazy, it didn't t engage me too much.

It's hard to figure out if it's a dream or a nightmare. A surreal vision. It starts with Johnny Depp attaching Floy taggs to fish (something few will notice or appriciate) and continues with...you'll have to see it to appriciate or maybe not. Great soundtrack. I wish I could find a recording.

The opening sequence provides a confusing start to this quirky comedy. The story is entertaining and very unusual. There are a few hilarious moments along with a lot of nonsence. The surprising cast includes Jerry Lewis, Johnny Depp, Faye Dunaway and Lili Taylor. You never know what craziness will happen next. The flying machines were very comical, and the dream sequences are nutty. Worth watching but don't expect it to make a lot of sense, it's all very surreal.

I think i would be happy rewatching the scene where Lili Taylor talks about committing suicide and coming back as a turtle for the rest of my life. But then again i could easily say the same thing about the scene where Vincent Gallo reenacts the crop-dusting scene from North By Northwest. Fuck this movie is just amazing.

It's an Americanized Kusturica, taking elements of his Serbian films - comedy, tragedy, social realism, zany surrealism and accordion-playing - and transferring them to a Middle-American landscape. It's not nearly as good as the director's Serbian masterpieces, it's a little incoherent and drags on sometimes, but still pretty good, pairs well with What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Arizona Dream features one of Goran Bregovic's best soundtracks to date; the music is heavenly.

This is a very good movie that unfortunately has several scenes where Johnny Depp acts violently towards women, making it hard to forget the real things we now know about him even for two hours. Having said that, no one makes weird and quirky a natural aspect of the worlds they create quite like Kusturica and this is one of the great Faye Dunaway performances.
