This movie suffers a lot if you're watching it on anything smaller than a 500 ft. screen.

It's a fun kids movie if you split it up because of its length. And if you don't mind your kids having some dated notions of other cultures. Even when this was made, the idea of British colonial supremacy was dated. Yet we march on with Rule Britannica played at every opportunity. The balloon effects are good. The cameos did nothing for me since I didn't recognize them with some exceptions. Overall a nice adventure with humor in the London club scenes. Fav scene: train chase was very well shot.

Very much a middle-of-the-road movie. It's somehow never as entertaining as it really should be. It's not bad either. It just is.

One of the slowest and most boring Best Picture winners out there. There's some beautiful cinematography and music, but I can't in good conscience recommend this repetitive snooze-fest to anybody who's not an Academy Awards completionist. (Also, this movie features Shirley MacLaine as an Indian princess. Ahh, the fifties.)

Cloying 1950s rose-tinted whimsy, a little too saccharine for my tastes. I wish Gene Wilder’s twinkling cynicism was here as a counterbalance, Willy Wonka style. And I’m no Tiktok kid - I’m fully capable of watching The Wrath of Aguirre at 2x speed! - but it feels like it takes 80 days to watch. That’s a lot of air time for not much to happen. 2x speed can’t save it from filler.

It's certainly a product of the 50s, but I was overall pleasantly surprised by it.

3 hours of grandiose and beautiful big budget Hollywood. Just wow. The photography is incredible, every single place filled with people, colors, it does the book justice. I remember I read it when I was 11 and loved it. But with age comes understanding and oh boi the racism is rampant and stains this adventure. Also I didn’t find Cantiflas funny

It's kind of flat. The additional bits aren't really necessary. Playing spot the cameo is good fun.

Dated in many ways, but remains absolutely entertaining. The vastness of the production also remains impressive on its own.

Though the politics and cultural stereotypes are dated, it's easy to see why this film was so tremendously popular when it came out. It's a visual treat, full of things most audiences probably hadn't seen before. The cinematography is very good, Cantiflas is entertaining, and the story is serviceable. Downside: It's definitely too long and flirts with being boring. It should not have won Best Picture. Also, the Hays Code had Shirley MacLaine playing an Indian Princess and that's just silly.

I wonder if I had been able to watch this when first released, I would have been amazed by the exotic worlds and peoples this showcased. Over 60 years later, it looks pretty insensitive and seems more inclined to adding roles for cameo appearances than for progressing the plot. Great Saul Bass end titles.

Michael Todd's Best Picture-winning adaptation of Jules Verne's novel hasn't aged terribly well in many regards; a lot of the humor seems awfully thin (we get it, rich Brits are stuffy) or vague (Fernandel's cameo is truly baffling), and unless you're seeing it on the big screen, the travelogue sequences grow tedious. But David Niven, Cantinflas, and Robert Newton are all good, the 40+ cameos remain a pleasant novelty, and it DOES look pretty...plus Victor Young's score remains truly beautiful.

Possibly the film in the history of cinema that drags the most. I get a kick out of Niven's attitude but neither that nor the celebrity cameos can save this dreck.

Impressive set pieces and an excellent score can't save this movie for being just a show case of different parts of the world (but in a Hollywood studio way), which is quite of pointless nowadays. Definetely read the book instead.

The vistas are stunning and for me are the star of the movie. Like a lot of newer epics this has not aged well. Of course it isn't newer and the remakes have not improved on it.

A good deal better than either of the remakes, with Niven holding court in grand style while the stunningly beautiful scenery goes parading by. The characters do tend to get lost, and this sweeping epic can require some patience, but if you so allow it to be, this is a charming way to see the world.
