Bit of a weird meld between live action and animation, with Highmore as a boy who must find the treasure in his backyard to save his family home from destruction. Finding the treasure requires he shrink down magically into the world of the Minimoys and transform into a cartoon elf. Jimmy Fallon guides him through Candy Land, and Madonna shows up to hit on him a bit (yep, Madonna...and Freddie Highmore). A bunch of other huge stars make inexplicable vocal appearances (what the fuck, De Niro).

Cookie cutter plot... check. Speech that defies the laws of physics... check. Bad acting... double check. Real word/CG action... you betcha. This meets all criteria for suck.

Perhaps good for the kids, but a good "family" movie also needs elements to keep adults entertained, and this one has none. So it gets 50 for the kids half and a 0 for the adult half.

I'm not sure kids will even care for it. The CGI is not bad for a 2006 movie, but the designs are lacking and the plot seems really rushed the moment it turns into the CGI world. Some scenes seem to have jumps in their logic, with bits missing to the point they are plot holes (ex: Artur is seen setting off. Next time he is seen thrown in jail with no explanation how he got caught). What is that voice cast though

The entire film has very clunky execution but it's still rather fun to watch as a light childish fantasy film. One thing I did notice is a lot of stylistic similarities to other Besson films, especially The 5th element. There's a certain sense of wonder and bizarre innocence that makes it impossible to really dislike despite its many flaws.

Luc Besson's tryout on CG animation. The real world is not much intersting, but the cheecy CG animation offers some eye-candy. Flick for kids.

Enjoyable, interesting and well-animated. Live-action actor very appealing as well.

Looks ok but the plot is so cheesy and talky I ditched halfway.

Despite the hypersexualized female lead (voiced by Madonna) playing across from a 10-year-old boy, this is a charming retelling of Arthurian legend.

25-10-2010 (Arthur and the Minimoys) too old for this childish stuff, with respect to the nicely detialed graphics. Less silly than 'The Magic Roundabout'
