Artists and Models

My favorite of the Martin & Lewis pictures, and could even be considered a legitimately great movie. Tashlin spent most of his early career directing Looney Tunes, and it shows. The film has a carefree, stream-of-consciousness, anything can happen vibe to it, in a candy-colored world where comic book artists get involved in international intrigue. It's often teetering on the edge of insanity. Sexy, sassy and a load of fun. Maclaine easily holds her own with the boys, and Malone does well, too.

"Artists and Models" presents a medley of comedic sketches, interspersed with awkward romantic subplots, alongside a showcase of song and dance. It's a passable one-time watch that does not merit a strong recommendation or a second viewing.

Better than average Martin/Lewis fare plays to their relative strengths at that time, and Tashlin directs with style and a great use of colour. Maclaine also reminds viewers of her comic potential, before she became a grandmother prematurely and went through the motions.

Dean Martin has a nice voice.

Didn't really care for the comedy, the singing nor the visual style but there were enough enjoying bits to keep watching.

Great glayvin I don't get Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin's fun and some of the ladies are fun but good gravy does suffer the ravages of time

I can't believe I enjoyed a Jerry Lewis film so much, the rest of the cast certainly helped a lot. From start to finish it's got a constant string of funny moments and manages to keep the madcap tone just restrained enough that you can savor every moment without feeling overwhelmed or annoyed. Great bright colours too.
