The only positive aspect of this film was it had Salma Hayek naked. The story was uninteresting, the narrator Colin Farrel was annoying, and the climax, well, I missed it. Unless it was Colin Farrel apologizing for calling Salma Hayek a spick.

For some reason I loved this movie. It is a classic romance, but for me there was something more to it. Maybe it was just me, but I really enjoyed the movie.

Some noticeable deviations from the book, but ultimately a well-crafted period piece for Depression era Los Angeles. A few genuine laughs over a sentimental story.

What worse could have happened if Towne had stayed loyal to the book?

A better movie than anticipated, though the changes from the book are noticable enough to detract from the film.

The worst book-to-film adaptation I've ever seen. The entire second half of the film goes away from the novel and becomes an unoriginal, half-assed love story with so many plot holes and terrible acting.

The way he insulted her and she kept coming back was somewhat funny, but then she died and ruined the mood, bitch!

Saw some titties. Just as bad as the book in most ways though.

If you want the audiobook, get the audiobook - not this film!

You've seen it before. I love the period in which the movie is set though.

By the half, until the movie goes well, but loses its interest to the few, I think the film fails to show the essence of the book.
