Astérix et Obélix : L'Empire du milieu

I really enjoyed contre César when I was a kid and have kept up with the live-action adaptations of Astérix et Obélix over the years, but L'Empire du milieu had me questioning whether I've gotten too old or whether this film just isn't that funny. Many of the scenes are familiarly played out from both the comics and previous films; but in defence of the latter point, there's a scene where Astérix and Obélix are arguing that plays out dramatic without a hint of comedy. Disappointing!

Being European I naturally have a fondness for Asterix & Obelix, but making live-action films about the comic is difficult. The drawn characters are ridiculous, so the real people got to be the same, and the humor doesn't always mash what's on paper onto film. With that said, there are a lot of gags that are funny, as long as you know the comic world of Asterix & Obelix. I could probable butcher a lot about this one, but I wanted to have a good time and I got that for the most part.
