Here's an alliance. A Japan-German co-production right before the war! And you can bet there was a lot of cultural symbolisms and parallels between the nations arming up for war.Like with all of Arnold Fanck's films, the real star was nature with of course the mountains playing a vital part, climbing a volcano for the emotional climax. Looking past the ideological aspect, this is a beautiful movie to look at for the ambiance, even if the story is slightly odd and a tiny bit of a culture clash.
