Disconnected story threads made it feel like bad editing. I disliked how they were revealed and sliced up. Much of it was slow and confusing. Some of the plot was too coincidental, and there were plot holes. A few good moments of tension and several memorable scenes, but also many plot points that did not live up to their potential. Good performances and music. Overall, I was not entirely satisfied, mostly due to slow starts, confusion and how they chopped things up.

Grim, downbeat rumination on the state of race and societal relations in Australia; told with an overly jaundiced eye and has too full a plate for its relatively short running time, combining racial tensions with First Australians and immigrants, as well as economic concerns. As it is, the semi-known cast do their best, with Brown bringing the big guns; his character is arguably the most interesting, but the screenplay gives him a short shrift, never really fleshing out his motivations.
