Cute, well-made, and endearingly eccentric. Has far more personality than most talking animal movies. Baa-ram-ewe.

It charmed the pants off me. The mice were kind of annoying, but I really loved all the other characters. Through a combination of expert animal training and seamless computer animation, you really feel like these creatures are PERFORMING. The script keeps it simple without putting the animals into absurd scenarios. Cromwell and Szubanski are wonderful as well, and the film gorgeously highlights the lush Australian countryside. An absolute delight, one that warmed my heart and choked me up.

If Hans Christian Andersen came back from the dead and decided to make a movie, if would probably look a lot like this. Pure-hearted joy and old-school fairytale charm has rarely - if ever - been captured more touching on celluloid than here. That'll do for a perfect score, pig. That'll do.

While some adults may be turned off to the idea of watching a family-friendly comedy starring talking animals, Babe features a timeless story, universal themes, notable cinematography, and Oscar-worthy special effects.

This movie is much better than it has any right to be. Such simple children's fare should not be this well made and certainly not this well produced. Babe is more than just fun for children, it will genuinely entertain the entire family and win over all but the staunchest of skeptics.

Babe is an overwhelmingly cute and kiddy film with many enjoyable characters. James Cromwell is especially good as the farmer who owns all of the animals. Pretty good!

Pros: Acting (human and animal), locations, cinematography, and story. Cons: May be too slow-paced for some. My favorite film. A rewarding experience with every new viewing. Cromwell is fantastic, the locations are beautiful, and Babe is a beautifully realized character. Full of warmth, humor, and love.

I really have nothing bad to say about Babe. I loved it as a kid because of the talking animals, and I love it today because of how oddly endearing the whole thing is. This just might be James Cromwell's best performance.

A lovely kids movie, cute and whimsical and the sort of light-hearted feel-good romp you vehemently pass off as nauseating even though it's more than on par with those nostalgic kid flicks you hold so dear to your heart.

Through some cosmic mistake, Babe is a really good movie. And I don't mean it's a good movie considering it's about a talking pig, I mean it's legitimately a really good movie. The characters are fantastic (ironically, the animals have more humanity than some characters I've seen in other films), and the acting is great (voice acting and Cromwell alike). It's fun for both children and adults, which is what family films should aim for. Score is not a grade.

One of the most surprisingly entertaining movies ever. Who would have thought that a movie about talking animals would be so good? I was entertained as a child and I still think it's very solid. The mix of puppetry, CGI, and actual animals is uncanny and the story, while certainly a family story, manages to get a little dark at times and even keep the stakes really high for a majority of its runtime. It's just really well shot and the story is very relatable. One of the best of its genre.

It was pretty cool in 1995 but as time removes the wonder and uniqueness it doesn't hold up. The pace is at times unbearably slow and it's just incredibly saccharine, even though some parts are rather dark.

Yeah, I don't get why everyone was so crazy over BABE back in the 90s. Can you believe this was nominated for Best Picture that year over DEAD MAN WALKING and LEAVING LAS VEGAS? We didn't get it either. BABE, man. The story is pretty much bereft of tension and much too sweet to even really work as an underdog story. I guess if we respond to it, it's to the atmosphere and feeling of the thing which is indeed carefully and uniquely cultivated.

I read all the books by the author as a youngster, so a healthy dose of nostalgia may cloud my opinion, but I can't help loving this. So many charming little touches, from the narration and title cards to the cleverly set out inter-animal dynamics. Cromwell is great as the taciturn Hoggett, especially his final words putting a cap on a heartwarming and triumphant finish.

Film nalezy do klasyki 'telewizyjnych' filmów familijnych. Bardzo ciekawy i ladnie nakrecony film; opowiada historie zwyklego zwierzecia domowego (pod katem ludzkich cech), ktore moze osiagnac wiele za sprawa niezwykle silnej woli i checi. Pelen wzruszenia, a czasem usmiechu film. Polecam wszystkim jako, ze zbliza sie czas swiat.

Harmless children's fairy tale that is generally of much better quality then most family films (and more adult with its darker themes of lost innocence than you'd expect) but its aggressively feel good gloss at times made my teeth hurt. The slightly bizarre sequel is more interesting.

Ground-breaking when it came out, this movie can now be seen as merely the first in a long line of "talking animal" movies, which diminishes the wonder that was a big part of this movie's mystique. However, there is still charm enough here to keep this pig from going "Wee! Wee! Wee!" all the way home.

Quaint animal tale, freshly, ripely illustrated by prior documentarian Noonan. Sometimes the cuteness gets overaggressive, but the absence of any obligatory child actor minimizes the effect. (The dour farmer and his blithering broad-beamed wife are rather queer ducks themselves.) And the slight distortions and exaggerations of barnyard noises -- not the dialogues in proper English, but the cleverly orchestrated bleats and squawks and squeaks -- are often very funny.
