Sort cute but really dumb. Unless you have nostalgia for it (or have had a few "special" egg nogs), there's no reason to seek it out.

all of laurel and hardy's best stuff comes from their shorts. their feature length stuff ends up losing my interest by the end.

Far and away the best of Laurel and Hardy's operetta movies, and one of their best all around. The boys annoy each other to great effect and make great Unlikely Heroes, while the romantic leads are not too obnoxious, and the boogeymen are really scary! A winner all around. Trivia: Henry Brandon (Barnaby) also played Fu Manchu in a the 15-part Republic serial DRUMS OF FU MANCHU, and the Indian Chief Scar in THE SEARCHERS.

"Charming and a little sinister at times, this Laurel and Hardy fantasy comedy is still very watchable."

An ambitious film that mostly accomplished what it sets out to do. Unfortunately Stan and Ollie have far too little to do in terms of comedy. The ending is extravagant and fully realized I think.

Kind of fun but mostly this is a pass.

Laurel and Hardy shine in this film. The sequence of different storybook and nursery rhyme characters is cute and funny. Mickey Mouse is in there for no reason, but he kind of saves the day. I enjoyed the character of Barnaby, the old man who tries to force Bo Peep to marry him while her love Tom Tom is sent to Bogeyland. The bogeymen are badly costumed, but who cares? It's an old sturdio movie that was mostly a vehicle for the comedy duo but stands as a family classic. I only wish more saw it.

Kinda dated, which means that despite a relatively short runtime, it still felt long at times. But it is really fun to watch a movie which unironically had a plot like this. You might get the option to watch it in colours, but the black and white looks better.

Full of adventure and fairy tales, but not enough Laurel & Hardy! It's a playful kids movie, but like so many of the Laurel & Hardy features from the mid-30s they drown in song, dance and other lame characters taking the spotlight, and they don't get to do their own act. Please don't get me wrong, it's a still a fun fun film, but with Laurel & Hardy I prefer them in a simpler setting with their simpleton comedy. This it a mishmash of everything and they just look out of place.
