Back Roads

If you can accept the mounting sitcom-y misfortunes that befall Field's hooker with a heart of gold and Jones' boxer with a fist of ham, this is more enjoyable than most of its kind (at least nowadays), with some cute tweaks and local colour. You don't buy the romance for a second, but the leads are almost enough on their own. Few actresses have ever seemed as *alive* as Field during the period from SYBIL to HEART or so--you can see the glow as she realizes how good she is.
