The one-take opening. Marty skateboarding in the 50s to the tune of the glorious theme. George standing up to Biff. Doc's celebratory dance at the flaming tracks. This is undiluted movie magic. Zemeckis' film, beautifully strung together at a staggeringly high but always enjoyable pace, is filled with ingenious details so that, even upon endless rewatches, knowing the many iconic scenes by heart, I continue to adore every second! Funny and infinitely charming, it will remain one of my favorites.

An insanely fun, ridiculously high-energy 80s sci-fi comedy adventure and one of my very favorite movies of all time. The plot is clever, it's endlessly funny, and filled to the brim with enough clever touches ("Lone Pine Mall") for a dozen viewings. Incest has never been more heartwarmingly hilarious, and Johnny B. Goode just flat-out rocks. Michael J. Fox's Marty McFly is one of the greatest movie heroes ever, and I would eat a whole can of baked beans out of 1985 Lea Thompson's ass.

If there was a movie that got me into movies it was this one. I wanted to be cool like Marty McFly, I wanted a dog named Einstein and I wanted a hot girlfriend like Jennifer Parker. Start to finish this is one of the most entertaining movies there is. It's a great comedy/sci-fi story that doesn't stray too far into either genre to take anything away from the other. It has arguably the most famous vehicle in cinema history and some of the most classic characters. A must watch for everyone.

Run for it Marty! I probably enjoy this film as much now as I did when I first saw it in 1985, and probably for the same reasons - it doesn't appear to have aged a bit. It has loads of charm, it is funny and the cast is very good (especially, for me, Christopher Lloyd's wild-eyed genius/lunatic). The film flies past, and Zemeckis choreographs proceedings very effectively. Immensely likeable.

Pee-wee Herman. The Dude. Dorothy Gale. Everybody in 'Kingsman'. Marty McFly stands firmly in the pantheon of iconic characters defined by their choice of footwear. Zemeckis' breakout film is filled with such memorable idiosyncrasies (a fucking DeLorean?). Combine the attention to detail with energetic performances and a classic soundtrack, the rewatch value of this goes through the roof. Like Bill and Ted, it gets extra props for being a comedy that makes surprisingly good sense of time travel.

I usually prefer my sci-fi to take on anxieties about where society is going merged with our fear of technology's trajectory. And when it comes to 1950's period pieces, I favor pragmatic narratives that couldn't be told in the decade's socially conformist era. So it's odd that I love this: a fun, childlike fantasy picture infused with nostalgia. And the gags--especially the diss on Reagan--are inspired. Although I don't like the idea that Chuck Berry ripped off "Johnny B. Goode".

A true classic. Pure fun in a bottle. One of those rare instances where every element comes together to make an entirely entertaining experience. Even a couple of decades later this is still as good as it was in '85. What's a creepier on screen kiss, Marty McFly and his mom or Luke Skywalker and Leia?

How can you not love this movie. That's really all there is to say. Marty, the Delorean, the Huey Lewis soundtrack, everything is just right. It's hilarious, it's exciting, it's just so damn watchable. Zemeckis' storytelling is stuffed with details to round out the setting in every epoch, and he draws pitch-perfect performances from his entire cast. I think I might like the sequel more, but this has become pretty damn iconic. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyable comedy sci-fi adventure film with a superb cast. Christopher Lloyd is simply hilarious, Michael J. Fox is a great lead, Crispin Glover has a great "coming of age" role and who can forget Thomas F. Wilson as the never-ending cycle of jerk in the Biff family. Plus the time travel actually makes sense so you aren't distracted with "wait... what the hell is going on?" Really enjoyable film that adults and kids can enjoy together.

One of my all-time favorite movies. The story is very original and unheard of while managing to be funny and extremely entertaining. Robert Zemeckis' directing is good and I love the score and the acting as well, seeing as it got both of these leads more popular than their other works. This all adds up to an instant classic that I wish I could have watched in theaters. If you somehow missed this, you are missing out.

The whole trilogy: These are, quite simply, the BEST family friendly movies ever made. They have aged extremely well because the 80's scenes come off like an exaggeration of the era just like the 50's scenes do. The sci-fi aspects of the plot are just intricate enough to make you think a little, but not so thick as to confuse a child. The villain is menacing enough to be effective but bumbling enough to be harmless without degenerating into a farce. Fun. Likeable. Perfect.

Back to the Future is the beginning of one of the greatest comedy trilogies in moviedom. It's pure fun, and the characters are all very memorable and likable. After knocking out Biff and smooching Lorraine, you'd think that maybe a few *more* things would change in the future. Why do they still live in the same house if he's a rich author? Why do the kids even exist? There's no way George and Lorraine kept the same snuggle schedule in the alternate time-line!

But then again there is really only one score that fits this movie classic. 88, the speed in which you travel through time. J. Fox is great as McFly and Lloyd is epic as Doc Brown. Watch it wait 5 minutes and then watch it again to see if you can spot all the small changes Marty makes by traveling back in time. This is a cult classic that can stand proudly next to Citezen Kane and The Maltese Falcon in any movie buffs collection.

One of the best movies I have seen and is the best time travel film I have seen, Star Trek eat your heart out. The characters development throughout the film is spot on, the cinematography is beautiful and the acting is really good. It's incredible how well this movie holds up after 30 years. It's still wildly entertaining (favorite moment is when the family mistakes Marty in his radiation suit for an alien), and I really like the performances of Michael J. Fox and Crispin Glover in particular (though everyone is good). One of the most charming science fiction films I've ever seen and shows what lighthearted comedy when done well can contribute to the genre (which, sadly, not many other films have decided to follow).

In the same way as Ghostbusters it's packed to the brim with '80s nostalgia and memorable moments, quickly making it one of the defining films of the decade. Its overall memorability also owes to the fact that it's a genuinely good film in its own right with an enjoyable plotline and plenty of charm. Sharply written, now iconic sci-fi comedy, which also traverses some suprisingly dark themes at times. Fox must have seemed an unlikely choice at the time, but couldn't be better; Lloyd turns up the manic energy to fever pitch at times, but his performances works and convinces completely; and what more can be said about Glover's terminally weird, but highly original clueless nerd? Thompson and Wilson both equally memorable. Capitalistic moral seems amusingly dated now.

Superbly written: Seemingly inconsequential early happenings gain new significance as Marty's trip to the past calls them back to mind in delicious deja vu moments and hilarious ironic one-liners ("Better get used to these bars, kid"); the "80s kid in the 50s" aspect provides some great scenes (see the final guitar solo); and the time travel logistics are (mostly) well-constructed.
