Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn

It takes a genius to do something this crazy, and Jude was always a genius, but has never gone this all-out crazy. It begins as a sparse social-realist anecdote about cyberharassment with both feet grounded in the 2020 pandemic (albeit boldly innovative photography), cuts to an essayistic but almost random montage reminiscent of Greenaway's more experimental works, then backflips into a green-and-red lit, vaguely Felliniesque farce. Oh, and it's full of hardcore pornography.

Sometimes I like a nasty film vomit. Desperate fable on the world now - from far-right to parents' hypocrisy about kids' 'innocence', from digital forms of hate and fascism invading every inch of our lives to fake news and conspiracy theories, mindless revisionism of history - and not exactly comic, but actually angry. Love digressive filmmaking of first section - shots end in ruins, building, brands -, like the essay one and have mixed feelings about the last - but the Gal Gadot finale is great

It is now my favorite Romanian film. I'm not taking any questions at this time, but this film so perfectly illustrates the absurdity of living in Romania, the noise, the maddening feelings, the cognitive dissonance, the 'won't somebody think of the children', the inability to reflect on oneself and on patriotism and the really fucked up history. It's bloody genius as far as I'm concerned.

First 'masked' film I've seen turns out to be a near masterpiece. Divided neatly into three chapters, the first eases you into this calamity, all the while using a lingering camera to cleverly comment on the aesthetic grossness of modern society (best example now may be littered masks). The second is a jaw-dropping montage that's as funny as it is alarming, opening up a world of opinions. The third is a brilliant dialogue, that culminates with a climax that's as audacious as you can get. Hot!

It's smart, but not much of a movie - the second part could have been done in writing, and the third part is theater. (Not to mention that the prologue is porn.)

Viewed September 26, 2021. I’m sure Jude’s portrait of dislocation during the pandemic comes from a personal place, but he doesn’t have much perspective on it beyond a couple of weak gags involving masks. I wouldn’t mind a few missed jokes if the overall effect wasn’t so sour.

First part: shot well but tedious. Second part, occasionally funny and informative but too long for what it is. Third part, compelling and blunt, able to rouse anger/frustration and, in the case of one of the 3 endings, satisfaction. My favourite part by far. Brave flick, beginning with some admittedly hot sex. I respect it immensely but can't bring myself to love it mostly because of pacing issues. With that said, seeing people say "mask!" amused me and the social commentary is strong.

Starts hot then drops to boooorrrring, gave up midway - which on reading reviews here may have been a mistake (a lot of love for final part). The part I saw reeked of art-porn. Maybe the maker went too far in seeking points to make and a shorter film would have been better....maybe. No desire to return to it.

st) - A very interesting and different kind of movie, especially the second part is unlike anything I've seen before in film. It throws a lot on the wall, some of it works, but plenty didn't for me. So overall it's more a movie I respect for what it tries to do than a movie that personally resonated with me.

the good: strong female lead, unconventional ending (not just the final scene). the meh: not much more than an elite's cry for attention "o brothers in the West, look at what we have to put up with in our backward nation"

Eşiyle sert seks yaptığı internete düşünce, okul tarafından pandemi zamanı toplantı yapılması istenir. Bu arada Romanya'yı Kasımpaşa'dan Şişli'ye doğru yürüyormuş gibi izliyoruz. Aslında Radu Jude bize belgesel tadında 1 gezinti hazırlamış. Filmin sonunda, 3 farklı son. Sonuncusundan kötülük çıktı. Elleyince sertleşen başka yerlerim var.

WHAT THE HELL (film izlemeye gidiyorum ben dedikten üç dakika sonra annem meyve getirir)

a realist tide gradually ebbs, revealing a theatrical assay of romania, modernity, and their intersecting contradictions. hilarious, dark, dumb, smart.

A hot-blooded ideological critique enriched with the paradoxes of sexuality, in 3 parts: The first, a quiet examination of the protagonist's banal routines of daily life with a detouring camera that captures the physical imprint/decay of capitalism. Second, an intermission of collages -- something like a series of Adam Curtis juxtapositions on hypocrisy and human nature. And finally a comical courtroom debate on ethics and morality in sex and education. Ambitious but well equipped.

Definitely not what you think it is. A fascinating, experimental blend of eroticism and didacticism exposing society's double standards.

The movie starts out X rated and then devolves into a large random collection of bits and pieces that I found quite difficult to enjoy.

3 bölümden oluşan filmin 2. bölümünün filme olumsuz etkisi olduğunu düşünüyorum. Ya kısa tutulmalıydı veya son bölüm olarak kullanılmalıydı. Bu hali ile seyir zevkini düşüren, konudan uzaklaştıran, filme olumlu katkısı olduğunu da düşünmediğim bir bölümdü.

Meh. I've never been all that thrilled with the blatantly transgressive. Just like porn, it is so obvious.

I enjoyed the first and last scene, but I found it pretentious and didactic what happened between these two.

"'Blowjob': The most looked-up word in the Online dictionary. The second is 'Empathy'." Jude comes for 2021 with every tool in his box, applying holy rage to all the fucked-upness that is our self-satisfied world, probably including every conceivable praise of the movie itself; perversion as purge. So profoundly out of time that it feels like someone took a dump in my drink and convinced me to love it.

Nope, not gonna pretend liking this.
