Just like Jarmusch's Mystery Train deals with cultural differences in a very charming manner. All through the film you feel that you are watching something unique. No surprise that this film gathered cult following all through the world. Beautiful cinematography and touching story about human relationships; this film will make you smile.

One of those movies that embodies the "quirky independent film" concept. Marianne Sagebrecht is a star but will never be a real big one because she's not bikini material (not that I really wanted to see her... oh, never mind)

cast plays it all so real friendly earthy. There's conflict, clashes, laughs, loves, all easy going, fluid.visuals, like the characters, good naturedly do what they want.Odd angles, odd cuts, odd lighting, repeating the same action from multiple angles? I'd often find this stuff dizzying or pretentious. But this is whimsical. The entire movie is acknowledging life and that you can take the good with the bad and just smile and hold a friend's hand and it'll be okay

Somewhat uneven in the first half and some edits that didn't quite work. But, won me over in the second half.

Starts off really badly, with way too forced quirkiness and a visual style that seems at odds with the acting and content. It got better (or I got more used to it) as it went on, however, and settles into a decent groove of mildly amusing moments and interesting scenes marred by the two leads playing their characters a bit too far towards the annoying side. On the whole I didn't mind watching it, but underneath the style (which has mixed results) is a rather plain story and message.

This is a quirky watch, with a very loud and sometimes obnoxious and somewhat domineering seeming main character who keeps the cafe going, while numerous people come and go. It's got some nice moments, though the lack of subtitles on it bothered me a bit (I watched via StudioCanal as an Amazon Prime Video add-on channel) but most of the dialogue is in English..

Jarmusch meets Lynch. Or at least that's how it felt to me. Glad I sat through this one!

An abandonded, large and mysterious female tourist woman stumbles across an isolated roadside desert cafe populated with a curious mix of characters, and proceeds to change their lives for the better with her beautiful inner spirit.

A quirky film about a German tourist finding herself in the most desolate American backwater, and about people connecting despite their differences. It takes a while to get going, but I was enchanted by the time it ended.

It starts off blatantly avant-garde, but abandons that for a more quirky, yet natural, indie film feeling. It's charming, with fun and interesting characters that inhabit this roadside cafe community. The tapestry is rich in color and themes are often sweet and sensual. Overall it just feels good!
