Starts off really badly, with way too forced quirkiness and a visual style that seems at odds with the acting and content. It got better (or I got more used to it) as it went on, however, and settles into a decent groove of mildly amusing moments and interesting scenes marred by the two leads playing their characters a bit too far towards the annoying side. On the whole I didn't mind watching it, but underneath the style (which has mixed results) is a rather plain story and message.

No surprise that this film gathered cult following all through the world. Beautiful cinematography and touching story about human relationships; this film will make you smile.
