Bakumatsu taiyoden

Difficult to rank as the comedy for me, while it has its funny bits, is a bit intermittent. The setting & staging however are 10/10 & it was a great pleasure to "be there". Better thought of as a period/comedy/ drama IMHO. "can't pay his bill" is not quite true & is part of the fun. Once how the bill will be settled is sorted out then it is truly funny as the staff & management ranking is turned about. Note, though setting is a brothel, it's visual PG, perhaps a little explaining for very young.

Although it's full of movement and energy, the fact that most of the comedy was lost on me made this a rather dull affair to me. It's well directed still.

Ano do centenário de Yûzô Kawashima filme #1. Talvez esse filme não seja tão famoso quanto deveria, é um amálgama bem perspicaz de filme de samurai, comédia, filme histórico e romance picaresco e o personagem principal certamente influenciou a concepção de Yojimbo. Se misturassem Akira Kurosawa e Robert Altman certaria daria essa mistura como filme. BlurayRip no MakingOff.

Much of the humour was lost on me which makes it hard to appreciate as a comedy. The cultural aspects were much more interesting than the comic ones.
