Balloon Land

Quite a fun little film with charming animation.

It is cute, but it gets old pretty quick.

This was a really odd little short.

It's a shame that Ub Iwerks isn't remembered as well as Chuck Jones, Tex Avery or Friz Freleng. His cartoons showed a lot of detailed artwork, and although they weren't as subversive as the three I mentioned, were still groundbreaking.

Yes! Yes! Yeeees! He goes about town poppin' the shit outta the balloon people This is a badass, dark children's movie.

You gotta love Ub Iwerks. This is a crazy little animated masterpiece with distressing visuals galore, from balloon people casually creating new balloon people with inflating machines to the demonic Pincushion man gleefully murdering balloon people with his pins. Highly recommended.
