Making a ping-pong-themed parody of Enter the Dragon (34 years later) was already a questionable idea, but the execution, with no subtlety and little creativity, only makes it worse. The movie finds a few loopy, out-of-nowhere laughs, but mostly goes for the desperate, easy, lowbrow gags - people falling down, people eating gross things, yadda yadda yadda. The protagonist gets hit in the crotch not once, not twice, but THRICE over the course of the film. That’s not a good sign.

I'd rank this film a zero, but honestly, it doesn't deserve it. This film is so half-assed, it can't even work up the steam to properly suck. The waste of talent here is epic - Crews, Hong, Q, Walken and last but not least: ME, writing this stupid fucking review when I should be illustrating my luscious, velvety depth by hyping obscure, european 70'ies wierdness that nobody is ever going to see. Fuck this film for wasting my invaluable time. And who the fuck is Dan Fogler? Don't answer that.

I watched this movie a few months ago, and nothing stands out in my mind as being stellar. I mean, I didn't know "The Dragon" (I have no idea if that was what her name even was, and I don't particularly give a shit) was a little girl, but it was obvious that it was going to be someone that you didn't "expect" to be a champion. ::yawn:: I guess the only saving grace for this movie were the courtesan's of pleasure. I did get a good chuckle out of that, at least.

Apart from a few key moments, Balls of Fury was not very enjoyable. The quirky cast of characters is almost enough to pull the film through, but this doesn't happen. The acting is fine, and while the plot is predictable, it's at least watchable. Unfortunately, it just isn't funny. Not frequently enough, anyway. It's not a complete waste of time, but not worthy of it either. It's a film that's there, and it can elicit some laughs, but it just didn't do it for me.

Just plain good old fun. Chris Walken really shines as crazy mobster boss. Completely predictable, but with this type of movie, who cares? Love the German champion!

I remember liking this movie when I came out but after having rewatched it I've come to the conclusion that it was probably the weed. James Hong has the best performance of this movie which pains me because I really like Dan Fogler. There are some funny moments for Fogler but they can't save a terrible script and an incredibly boring movie. Thomas Lennon had a great performance but, like Diedrich Bader, I think they could do anything in front of a camera and I'd laugh it up. Lopez was the worst.

Walken needs to go back to actually acting instead of essentially making himself the butt of the joke that is all the roles he takes. It's embarrassing for somebody we know has talent. I would totally bang Aisha Tyler though.

A failure. It markets to the kids who like Napoleon Dynamite, but I don't even think they liked it. Christopher Walken wasn't even good in this movie, and that's depressing.

I agree with the consensus. There are a lot of great comedic character performances from people like Thomas Lennon, but good characters in a disjointed unfunny story does not a good movie make.

Not even Christopher Walken can save "Balls of Fury," a slapstick comedy about the underground world of illegal ping-pong, from becoming so obsessed with ball jokes. ridiculous martial arts sequences, and an onslaught of gags that fail to deliver. Amidst that, it's still not shockingly bad if you can look past its laughable absurdity.

The cast is great and they all do a good job, but the laughs are few and far between. Walken isn't nearly as awkward as he normally is, which is bad.

Silly 'n' slapstick, but with smarts and heart and canny subversions of stereotypes (like Christopher Walken's surprise harem). And it's Christopher Walken. And ping pong! I was reluctant to see it after being so horribly burned on Superbad, which forced me to spend time with a dickhead idiot and tried in vain to straddle gross absurdity and poignant realism, but Balls restored my faith in the genre. It owns its crass whimsy and delights in it with great characters.

Well it's not terrible but it's not very good either. Some of the jokes are funny but a lot just feel like "ohh hey we're so WACKY for the sake of being WACKY! Ping-Pong TO THE DEATH! Ho ho ho how silly and HILARIOUS aren't we amazing!" Also the plot feels just so forced, I know in this type of comedy you need to let some stuff go but even so this movie takes monumental leaps of faith and the payoff isn't really worth it. Still, it's got a few genuine laughs but not enough.

Not particularly good. It has one or two moments of comic genius, and a few memorable characters, but on the whole it's a rather forgettable comedy that barely held my attention. I saw the movie recently, and honestly, I have to strain mightily to remember its plot. Thomas Lennon, of Reno 911!, is particularly funny as Daytona's Olympic rival. Mostly though, it feels like a cheap knock-off version of Dodgeball, and you're better off watching that instead. Maggie Q is smokin' hot, though.

I'm still laughing at the dude who rated Balls of Fury as 100. Stupid plot, poor execution of said stupid plot, relied heavily on slapstick for humor...so many things made this movie not enjoyable. I must admit, I did laugh at Christopher Walken and the dead panda, but I love Christopher Walken in all his wackiness.

Another silly and unnecessary fringe sports comedy. These types of movies are never all that offensive because there's always this lighthearted competitive element supporting the jokes, but they rarely are any good. Crazy Walken is an easy, but relatively reliable, source of humor, but Fogler is patently repulsive and unlikeable. The jokes mostly fall flat because they're so tired (man getting hit in crotch! gay courtesans!).
