"Bang! reveals Breer at his most accomplished and most playful. It is also his most autobiographical film - the youngster paddling a boat is Breer as a boy and the pencil cartoon sequences were drawn by Breer when he was around ten years old. Breer inserts a photo of himself with a question mark scrawled over his head, accompanied by the words 'Don't be smart.' But he can't help it - he is." (Katherine Dieckmann)

Kind of interesting in how it meshes sound and a variety of images but it felt to incoherent and scattered for me to really get much out of it.

There's no mistaking Breer's artistry, but as a whole "Bang!" is not very easy to take. It's hardly entertaining and calling it comprehensible may seem a stretch to many. One could possibly extract some meaning from several parts of it but personally I failed to interpret it as a whole. My finest shot would be that Breer basically presents various aspects of (his) life, but this generic remark still leaves many question marks.
