Wow! People viscerally hated this movie. I didn't think it was too bad. Nicolas Cage was pretty asleep for most of the film but there were moments with the Thai woman were he seemed almost human. I liked the storyline with his protégé. It was another way to give Cage's character some humanity. The end of the movie wasn't very satisfying but overall I didn't find the movie too bad. It's a good way to spend an afternoon.

I've been to Bangkok, and it wasn't nearly as dangerous as falling in love with a blind woman. Nothing says "what the fuck am I doing with my life?" like spending two hours watching Nic Cage's Samson-like locks bounce to the rhythm of a traditional Thai diddy...in standard definition...on youtube...in a reduced window...while using the other half of your monitor to purchase (unhoneyed-denutted) cheerios online.
