Barbarian Queen

Total trash, but definitely has moments of good-bad glory. To wit: at one point, a captive rape victim, uh, *squeezes* her attacker so hard that he stops what he's doing and releases her. My word.

All the worst parts of me had a great time and all the best parts of me were either asleep or too lazy to shut it off. The film opens with a rape, a scene that it ends by blasting the title across the screen as though a rape is a proper and logical way to start things off. All told the women here do kind of kick ass, they just also have a clause that demands nudity. Please forgive me for enjoying this.

Wonderfully cheesy girl barbarian flick with plenty of boobs and swordfights. Unlike the pretty lame Red Sonja (who constantly needed saving by Arnold Swarzenegger), Lana Clarkson's character is more than capable of kicking everyone's ass herself. Only 70 minutes long, this moves along at a good clip with minimal padding.

It is what it is. And if you're reading this, you know what is is and have probably already prepared to watch this. Just do it.

Somewhere between the dreck that is Deathstalker and the stupid fun of Deathstalker II lives Barbarian Queen. Nudity, bad acting, horrible dub, piss poor fights, short running time, silly fun, and a super low budget this movie has it all. To some this is camp gold, to others this is worse than trash, but to me this falls right smack in the middle.

Shot in Argentina, this features the implant-perfect charms of Clarkson as the lady of the title. Another bogus pseudo-sword-and-sorcery excuse to watch naked women mud-wrestle. But hey, I'm not arguing with success.

This is pretty bad. But, I honestly enjoyed it. It's not an outright misogynist piece of shit like Deathstalker, & Lana Clarkson is really damn entertaining in the lead. You can tell she's having fun & seeing her be taller than some of the guys she's fighting is pretty great. Katt Shea is also a gem in this. The script is awful, the editing is atrocious, the acting is mostly pretty poor, & the story seems to have pieces missing, but it's nowhere near as bad as it could have been. So yeah.

Terrible, but in a good way.

Tubi has this in the sword & sorcery section but that’s a bit deceptive; there’s no magic and it’s not set in a fantasy world. There’s definitely swords though, and boobs, and battles, though none exactly operating at a high caliber and even at 70 minutes there’s somehow long dull stretches. The amount of rape in this movie is rather shocking; I’m hardly Mr “That’s Problematic!” Feminist Film Critic but at a certain points it’s like Jesus Christ movie we get it the bad guys are rapists lol

Once again, the best thing in this B movie is the cover - inspired and among the best of the genre. The film itself ain't too bad either. It doesn't take itself too seriously, is not too long, has a half-decent story and decent amount of glorification material (that's what B movies are rated for, at the end of the day) and almost manages to keep the viewer's attention. The plot progression, characters and their interactions are beyond silly and unrealistic, though, which is to be expected.

This is a low-budget film in ancient times, yet regrettably, it lacks any redeeming qualities. In just over an hour of screen time, it includes an alarming number of rapes. However, amidst its unsettling content, one scene stands out. It will remain etched in my memory—an empowering moment where the protagonist courageously escapes her tormenter by applying a fierce grip on a crucial body part. While the film may not be one I wish to revisit, this memorable scene will undoubtedly stay with me.

Hilariously awful in every way.
