Barge

A successful work of direct cinema about life in labor on a barge going down the Mississippi. The cinematography is often quite fetching, but the sound design is what really stuck with me. There's a combination of the loud drone of the barge's machinations with a well-composed electronic score. It's interesting to think of this portrayal of blue-collar life in contrast to contemporary mainstream depictions. Here, there's just the truth of the work and the life stories of those who live it.
