Even though it's a spoof, it suffers from everything that makes what it's making fun of seem so dated and annoying.

Entertaining, the actors are clearly hamming it up and the girl tied to the tracks cliche is played wonderfully. Shame the score on the youtube version is so dominant that it overshadows the film.

A quick, excitingly done spoof of the sort of action-suspense thing that was big at the time, with a train sequence that's actually one of the best action scenes of the period. Never let it be said Mack Sennet didn't pick up his directing chops while working with Griffith. (On which note, the opening reminds me more of some of Griffith's cornier romance scenes). Also, a celebrity guest appearance by race car driver Barney Oldfield, the first man to drive at the breakneck pace of 60MPH.
