More a collection of striking seaside images -- men fishing against the sun, Candomblé rituals, capoeira fights -- than actually a fully rewarding narrative feature -- basically an educated black man (an explosive Pitanga) leaving Salvador to find love in his homeland and trying to free the community from what he perceives as mysticism. Lots of singing, dancing, provocative shots of a naked woman bathing in the ocean and some of the visual flair and intensity Glauber would show in future films.
