The story is about a father so concerned about his, and his sons, reputations that he drives them away one by one. But he is a big hypocrite. The naive boys fall in love with undesirable women. And in Basil's case, with disastrous consequences. But his misfortune was actually triggered by someone his father had wronged. A sad story, but I never felt much investment in these characters. Slow pacing, it sometimes dragged along. Not a particularly memorable movie, but still somehow entertaining.

Not many will probably ever see this movie but I liked in its own way. I found the story of Basil to be one interesting. I felt bad for him as he was being taken advantage of.
