A 6-story anthology collection in a time-line after "Batman Begins". In "Have I Got A Story For You", 3 kids tell wildly different stories about Batman. "Crossfire" focuses on two policemen who end up getting in the middle of a crime battle. "Field Test" has Lucius Fox creating a new technology for Batman. "In Darkness Dwells" features Killer Croc and Scarecrow. "Working Through Pain" goes through flashbacks of Bruce Wayne's training. "Deadshot" focuses on the titular sniper.

Most of the shorts are remarkable. Some of them are really unnecessary though.

Even though Nolan and Bale's Batman movies were stellar, Kevin Conroy (returning here) will always be Batman to me purely because of his amazing voice work on the Animated Series. The storytelling here is a little uneven ranging from meh to pretty cool. Some of the animation styles are a little distracting (the noir art deco of Batman: The Animated Series is a tough bar to pass). Worth a watch for fans of the Caped Crusader.

A collection of short stories that could've had a lot of potential. Billed as "Batman through the eyes of anime visionaries". If a visionary is someone who has a *very* minor role in making decent movies, then I suppose they are. However, *all* of the stories are very basic, and none are interesting. The animation is completelely uninspired. An awful disappointment.

The plot and animation are pretty good, but it's ultimately let down by poor voice acting, which makes the shorts feel slightly duller than they actually are.

I was told it was Batman's equivalent of the Animatrix, and there's not really much more you can say about it. Has it's moments, but leaves a fair bit to be desired.

The voice acting is terrible, animation bland and an anime Bruce Wayne is a terrible, terrible thing.

The animation (anime) is very good, but the stories (6 vignettes) are weak--not dumb, but there isn't much to them.

The first story is great, and the rest range from good to okay. It really brought back memories of the original animated series, and made me wish they brought something back in that vane.

Stories vary between pointless at best and just plain stupid, animation quality is not as consistent as you'd expect, there are a few of the worst costume designs I've ever seen and even the two best episodes don't get any better than "alright". Utter waste of time.

Good animation, but at times overly stylized and/or too many aftereffects. Conroy does excellent voice acting; the rest range from good to mediocre to unpleasant, with the facial expressions and body language not always matching the tone of voice. Good story ideas, but not always well-executed. "Field Test" is my favorite here, with actual relevance to why Batman does things and how he does them.

A bunch of animated shorts in different styles that range from mediocre to horrible. The narratives are weird, and overall this just isn't entertaining.

Batman: Gotham Knight is interesting. It's a strange kind of idea that could have worked a lot better than it did, however. None of the anime styles (save Deadshot) really fit well with Batman's tones and its connections to the Nolanverse made it feel very cramped in what it was allowed to do. I feel like it could've been a lot better unfortunately.

A fragmented and dull cartoon tour of Gotham, featuring various renditions of Batman fighting the lesser bad guys of Gotham. You get six episodes for the price of one, and yet, some okay animation aside, the best feature of 'Gotham Knight' is it's mercifully short running time. And how the hell slash why the hell did they fit annoying kids in there?

Very inconsistent: at moments quite good, at others frustratingly daft. The screenwriting and voice acting are particular culprits, but the style and animation salvage it to some extent. Sporadically engaging Batman filler.

I don't see how this "bridges the gap" between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight because it really feels like six random Batman shorts that have nothing to do with the films other than both the shorts and the films are about (surprise) Batman. With that said it's an entertaining collection and undoubtedly everyone will have their favorites. Personally I liked the surrealism and subjectiveness of memory of the first and the animation fourth the most.

Great concept, incredible art, and with Kevin Conroy's voice, you can't go wrong. Was a little disappointed with bits of the dialogue here and there, considering the typical skills of the writers involved.

A fine compliment to the Nolanverse, this Batmanime shows us what became of the Narrows, introduces us to Gordon's MCU, and is a far more cohesive whole than the scattered stories that made up the Animatrix. Having said that, though, the Animatrix is better. Certain segments here don't work as well as others, and it feels a bit short. Always a treat to hear Kevin Conroy voice Batman, however. It's must-watch stuff for fans, but probably not of much interest to everyone else.

1: Just love Batman so I'm easy to impress. 2: The animation in the first one was awful and didn't work at all. The animation was uneven in general, some was great, some was not. 3: Even so, the story in the first was good. Liked the story in most of them, especially "Working Through Pain." To seasoned Batman fans, the views into his psych aren't original but even so it's interesting. Field Test and "Have I Got A Story For You" are the weakest links. But all in all it's a good watch.

Voice acting leaves room for improvement and the stories don't really bridge the gap between the two movies like promised. Also the sight of Bruce Wayne as youre regular pretty boy anime character will haunt me in my nightmares.

This is a project similar to Animatrix where most of the creative teams have artistic freedom with maybe an exception in one or two. Azerrelo written, Studio 4C directed opening is fantastic, so are about half of the other stories. All in all worth for the enthusiast and admirers of such projects.

Much in the vein of "The Animatrix", "Batman: Gotham Knight" tries to fill the gap between "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight". Sadly, it doesn't do that at all. Not one of these stories captures the tone of either film. Nothing is done to fill in any background for the characters. Worst of all, only two of the six short films manage to entertain. At best, the film gives insight into the mythos of Batman, outside of his film counter-part. However, that wasn't what these films promised to be.

I was pretty disappointed with this collection of animated stories. Most of them has got disasterously boring level of animation. Collection opens with a brilliant, the best story by Shoujirou Nishimi. It's got style, idea and animation works. The story by Yasuhiro Aoki was also pretty good one with some humour in the end. The best action was in the concluding story by Jong-Sik Nam. All the rest were non interesting what so ever.

Pretty uninteresting. It's like they took the least interesting aspects of Batman and explored them... superficially. Nothing really stands out. How about some villains?

It's animated Batman with Kevin Conroy, it's going to be great by default. Good to hear him use his "Bruce Wayne" voice again, too. I find it bizarre the amount of people who can't shake the old fashioned American view of anime, even for Batman. Everyone just sees Speed Racer and Dragonball Z. Sad.

I probably would have enjoyed it more if hadn't been (falsely, in my opinion) advertised as taking place in the "Nolanverse" between Begins and Dark Knight, which it doesn't feel like on any level whatsoever. And a few of the shorts were too boring / anime for my taste. All that said, the "Deadshot" short was 12 minutes of awesome, and alone boosts my score up.

Excellent portrayal of Batman through animation. Takes the character to places we wouldn't be able to explore in the live action films much like the Animatrix did for The Matrix. The animation in pretty much all of the shorts are great; amazing in some. The stories are all in true Dark Knight spirit.
