Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition

Watching this version of the movie is like firing a shotgun: it's all over the place, unfocused, excessive... and kind of awesome. Buried in all the bombast, side plots, and philosophy is something ambitious, different, and cool, and I appreciate that, warts and all.

Better than the theatrical release but not as good as Man of Steel. A number of plot holes were resolved in this version but it still has some issues. Clark Kent has multiple scenes added which adds some depth to his character. The longer running time with both additional and extended scenes improves the pacing however it is too long, although feels slightly shorter than theatrical version. THEATRICAL. 3/10. Poorly paced, at times incoherent. The ending was a sea of pixels. Very little Superman

Much better than the awful theatrical cut. This longer cut doesn’t solve all problems, but it does solve the major ones by making characters motivations much clearer and the plot more coherent and comprehensible.

So I finally got around to seeing the Ultimate Edition of BvS. It's marginally more competent and the character motivations... exist this time around. The problem is that's it's still Batman v Superman at the core and you can only put so much lipstick on that pig before you realize it's still a pig. I wish this concept was done better because there is so much that you could do with it but mandatory Zack-Snyder-doesn't-know-what-he's-doing check. Still true.
