Incredibly maudlin, broad, and sentimental. The depiction of gay culture is a step forward I guess, but that doesn't make it a good film.

Two-thirds of this Spanish comedy about a gay bear in Madrid who learns to parent his young nephew is fresh, funny, even moving, but the final reel goes off the rails as the filmmakers struggle to dramatize their big messages. Which is too bad.
