Beau Brummel

A fairly decent tragic melodrama that relies heavily on John Barrymore to keep the audience engaged.

John Barrymore is the reason to watch this mostly dull biopic of the renowned late 18th-century gentleman. They called him "The Great Profile" and indeed he is shot in profile so often that he begins to look more like a coin than a person. A more talented director might have added some visual inspiration, but pretty much all we're left with is Barrymore, who does so much with little facial and posture adjustments.
