Lolita, but French, and with a different ending.

This was risqué to make in 1981 France. In another time and place, it would have been unthinkable. It's really not Lolita, I like the premise, it's a worthy subject to tackle and a challenge to our prejudices; and it thankfully avoids the directly misogynistic goofiness present in Blier's earlier stuff. All that said, Marion feels like a stretch. Her maturity and single-mindedness seem dishonest to me. Writing a more realistic 14-year-old girl would have made a big difference for the better.
