Superb performances from Maria.B and M.Sheen, and this side of a mass shooting aftermath is an interesting subject - but only in glimpses are observations and juxtapositions bringing some depth.
The cold hearted exploits, Fox News'ish media, mob mentality and other lesser evolved society traits - compared to more empathetic behaviour - are mostly back-seated for a monotone study of grief and guilt that's not that engaging. *Preview*: #13#, exp-3*, story, reviews, Maria.B/8, R2.

You never see a story about this side of the...story. I think it does a decent job of showing the heartbreak and craziness that will affect everyone around them. School shootings are terrible. [Full Review]

Unbelievable. It took me twenty minutes to realize that I had ALREADY FUCKING WATCHED THIS. Recently, too. Either I'm getting jaded to the point where I suffer from a clinical disorder, or this is one of the most unmemorable dramas ever made.

Definitely gives a point of view on something that is not often thought about when tragedies of this kind occur. Sheen and Bello lead the film well. Not extremely interesting, but it is something that deserves to be pondered on screen.

A very difficult subject to tackle. It's a slow, drawn-out movie, but I think the material warranted analyzing the layers of grief and guilt that the characters struggle with. Not a movie I would watch again, but it's definitely interesting.

Bleak and moderately thought-provoking with a refreshing lack of melodrama. As expected, it has tons of crying and shouting but thanks to stellar performances by Bello and Sheen, these scenes never feel forced or manipulative. The major drawback is its limited scope. It feels too focused on being non-judgmental that it barely skims the surface on the psychology of the horrible crime. Nevertheless, it is a fearless and intimately raw exploration of grief and loss amid confusion.

An interesting point of view on high school killers. Sheen and Bello are great, but Beautiful Boy's true accomplishment is that it puts the viewer in the same position as the confused, grieving parents since we to only can guess of why their son committed that horrible crime. But with all the good things, BB fails on the storyline, which sometimes seems a bit off.
