While it will forever live in the shadow of Mary Poppins, this is a solidly entertaining family film with great songs, fun performances, and imaginative set pieces. If possible, go with the shorter theatrical cut rather than the unnecessarily bloated "roadshow" cut.

One of the few movies that I loved as a child and still love as an adult. C'mon, it has cartoons, ghost knights, and Nazis. Very imaginative fun, and probably the best film that mixes live action and animation. "STOP! THAT! BAAALLLLLL!"

Angela Lansbury looks old in this film, even though I know she isn't that old. An alright picture, sorta like Mary Poppins in it's fantastical-ness, but not.

I hate it though when you watch childish favourites remembering how you loved them and then you see all of their faults. It looks incredibly dated, the acting and dialogue is so cheesy and the political side to the film drags on at the end and doesn't seem to quite fit. But some of the iconic scenes and the soundtrack were incredibly nostalgic, forcing me not to go any lower than this.

The songs are all lukewarm forgettable mush, but the ensemble of adults and kids work fabulously well together as they embark on their playfully plotted adventure. It's a nice movie to unwind and wile away time with, and ends in a joyous wham-bam cacophony of effects and magical shenanigans.

Quite underrated. A must-see if you're a Harry Potter fan at all.

Awesome fun. Very imaginative and stays fresh many years later. The cast is very likable and they drag you into the film.

Delightful musical fantasy in the _Mary Poppins_ vein. A solid blend of humor and special FX. Like _Poppins_, this features a lengthy animated sequence wherein the human cast hobnobs witha crew of talking cartoon animals.

Tries to be the next Mary Poppins, but Lansbury is no Andrews and the musical numbers have none of the pinache or fun of its spiritual predecessor. On the plus side, ghost knights vs Nazis. I had fond memories of this as a kid, but unlike Poppins it has only gotten worse when viewed through adult eyes

Disney+ cut. I didn't care for the kids at all so anytime they did anything it was just annoying. There's some amazement at the premise and the effects. I agree that Angela Lansbury just looks old, even though she wasn't at the time. The final beach storming was just silly. Fav scene: football match.

Very funny movie for the family. Great visuel effects at that time and the best enjoyable part was the end with those silly Nazi's.

This one is a fun romp. And despite the presence of magic and the foray into a cartoon world, it does manage to remain relevant in a number of basic and personal ways. But I'll leave it to you to figure out the message here.

Really dated at this point, and its not as good as some of the other Disney live action, but its got some goofball charm.

One of those movies I never got to watch as a kid and really wanted to. Tropical cartoon shenanigans and magical suits of armor tromping around the countryside! ...then I watched it as an adult. The kid characters are Not Good (the elder boy is particularly obnoxious), the stage makeup and sets make everything non-animated dreary and dull, it's at least half an hour too long, and Disney's fetishizing English culture again but with military worship thrown in. I'm glad I watched it once, I guess?

Just watched this again after many many years and while it is still entertaining it didn't hold up very well. Part of the problem is the extended musical numbers in the 30th anniversary which go on way too long.

One of the better childhood movies out there that blended live action with animation. Definitely one to relive with your own kids on a rainy saturday afternoon...

I didn't realize Angela Lansbury was ever young until I saw this movie. I guess that counts for something.

I liked this one when I was younger, but its one of the few Disney movies that I used to like that didn't age well for me. Its not helped that I was used to the VHS version, not the extended DVD, which makes the movie drag horribly with extra song padding. Ok for kids, but I found it very slow, and with not that much going on.

Of course it's very much in the vein of MARY POPPINS, and like all imitations, not as good as the original. But they still knew how to make movies in 1971, and compared to the Shit that Hollywood is dumping on us in this miserable century, this is a revelation. The subject is nothing less than Dion Fortune's Mystic Battle of Britain, so if you're into English Mysticism this is right up your street. Not even Angela Lansbury could put me off on this one, which is saying something.

I remember liking this as a kid, but I couldn't recall anything other than a flying bed. As an adult, I'm impressed that I must have had the patience of Job as it's a very slow first hour of exposition (the anniversary edition has an interminable street dance sequence). The cartoon section at least had action, although it feels a little shoehorned in. Finally we get to the spiritual army; the best scene is the "deflating," but maybe that was just me glad it was finally ending. Sorry, memory.

Looking pretty dated and cheesy nowadays, it not all awful, and Lansbury doesn't solve any murders. A nice kids movie.

It's cute and it has massive nostalgia value for me, but it certainly hasn't aged well. Every set piece overstays its welcome and the animation is flat and dull, even by the standards of the day.

Why are there so many silly musicals about Nazis? Actually, there are only 2 I can think of, but that is still two too many.
